Abstract: A rolling-door-type load regulating device and an ocean energy power generating device using the same are described herein. The rolling-door-type load regulating device includes a water guiding unit, a roller spindle, and a driver. The water guiding unit includes at least two water guiding plates connected in parallel. The roller spindle is fixed to one end of the water guiding unit. The driver is connected with the roller spindle and drives the roller spindle to rotate to spread or retract the water guiding unit. The rolling-door-type load regulating device in the invention can regulate the load suffered by the hydraulic turbine. Therefore, the power generated by the ocean energy power generating device can be stably output and be directly used, thereby solving the problem that the output power of the conventional ocean energy power generator has wide fluctuations and poor stability.

Abstract: A foldable riding vehicle includes a frame having a front end and a rear end pivotally connected together. The front end is connected to a steering mechanism which includes a steering handle and which engages with a front wheel. The rear end has a first distal end pivotally connected to the front end and a second distal end engaging with a rear wheel. A seat support has a first end pivotally connected to the rear end of the frame and a second end supporting a seat. A pedal mechanism is movable between use and stowed positions. The foldable riding vehicle, in a folded position, includes the steering handle located symmetrically with respect to the frame and the pedal mechanism moving to the stowed position, and allows the front wheel to be located above the rear wheel and not to abut a surface, and the rear wheel to rotate on the surface.
Abstract: A system and method for identifying which of several candidate service transformers is powering a specific service point an electrical distribution grid are disclosed. An audio-frequency electrical signal, the detection signal, is injected onto the power line at the service point via a meter socket or electrical outlet. The Transmitter for the detection signal may be a portable device or it may be incorporated into an electrical meter. The audible or mechanical resonance caused in the service transformer by the detection signal is detected and recorded using an accelerometer or directional microphone in a Receiver. A variety of methods for fixing the Receiver at or in proximity to the service transformers are disclosed in order to adapt to variations in the siting and housing of service transformers. A variety of mechanisms and methods for collecting detection events are disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for synchronizing edge devices on a network, wherein the network has limited bandwidth and does not support a practical carrier sense mechanism. The edge devices transmit, using a slotted protocol, to a server located at a central data aggregation point. The server also controls a Central Transmitter, which sends messages to the edge devices to assign transmission slots and provide timing information to the edge devices to ensure that transmissions sent by devices sharing the same communication channel do not collide.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a secure communication network using an electrical distribution grid is disclosed. A device connected to the electrical distribution grid initiates a request for a secured key token by signaling an intelligent communicating device residing at or near an edge of the grid. The intelligent communicating device forwards the request to a receiver at a distribution substation on the electrical grid. This receiver enhances the properties of the request such that a grid location for the request can be inferred. The enhanced request is forwarded to a server at the distribution substation, which compares the request grid location to a Grid Map and Policies of known secure grid locations. Any inconsistencies between the grid location inferred from the enhanced request and the Grid Map and Policies locations are considered evidence of tampering, and the server rejects the request.

Abstract: Tool chatter during a pipe threading operation is reduced by positioning a pipe end to be threaded alongside a threading tool, positioning a radially expandable mandrel inside of the pipe end, securing the mandrel by expansion, threading the pipe end with the threading tool, and removing the mandrel. A preferred mandrel comprises a housing, an elastomeric sleeve, a piston, and a cylinder head. The elastomeric sleeve covers the outside cylindrical surface of the housing. The device is filled with hydraulic fluid and the piston is actuated to expand the sleeve against the inside of the pipe. Vibrations from the cutting operation are absorbed by the hydraulic fluid after being transmitted into it via the elastomeric sleeve.
