  • Publication number: 20120162985
Abstract: A desired output from a solid state lighting assembly is generated using a combination of a light assembly and an external protective lens. Provided are aspects in which the spreading and/or steering of aimed beams from individual light elements is achieved by through sections formed into an external protective lens. This may be embodied either in a luminaire originally designed to utilize solid state lighting elements, such as LEDs, or in a retrofit device or mechanism designed to convert an existing luminaire that uses a traditional light source into a luminaire that uses solid state lighting elements.

  • Patent number: 8196995
Abstract: A diversion apparatus, adapted to be arranged at the tail end of a vehicle, includes a diversion assembly and a slide mechanism. The inside of the diversion assembly is hollow and formed an airflow channel. The slide mechanism is arranged fixedly at the tail end of the vehicle body and has slot tracks extended along the lengthwise direction of the tail end of the vehicle body. The diversion assembly arranged on the slot tracks can be moved and slid thereon. Therefore, the diversion assembly can be slid on the slot tracks and moved toward the front of the vehicle body to prevent the opening of the door leaf of the vehicle from being hindered by the diversion assembly.

  • Patent number: 8196994
Abstract: A vehicle's drag-reducing apparatus, adapted to be arranged at the tail end of a vehicle, includes a diversion body positioned at the lateral surface of the vehicle and a rotary piece. The airflow flowing across the lateral surface of the vehicle body is guided to the tail end of the vehicle by the diversion body. One end of the rotary piece is pivoted to the vehicle body, while another end is fixed to the diversion body. Rotating the rotary piece will bring along the diversion body to be abutted against the tail end of the vehicle body or to be moved to the position far away from the tail end of the vehicle body. Thereby, the opening of the rear door at the tail end of the vehicle won't be hindered, even where there is an arrangement of the diversion body.

  • Patent number: 8157902
Abstract: The present invention is broadly directed to non-thermal plasma-based systems for reducing the amount of particulate matter in a gas stream, as well as to methods for using such systems. The present invention is particularly directed to such non-thermal plasma-based particulate matter reduction systems with self-cleaning surfaces. Particularly contemplated are self-cleaning surfaces that reduce particulate matter buildup such as is likely to cause the reduction of non-thermal plasma production in the system, and therefore the ability of such systems to reduce the amount of particulate matter in the gas stream.

  • Publication number: 20120051051
Abstract: Light assemblies are disclosed which incorporate mechanisms by which light losses due to angle of incidence from a lens covering an LED, or other solid state source or sources, are reduced. Assemblies may incorporate low-loss covers in luminaires originally designed to utilize LEDs or in an LED retrofit device or mechanism designed to convert an existing luminaire that uses a traditional light source or sources into a luminaire that uses LEDs. The low loss covers include discrete surfaces that correspond to individual LEDs, small arrays of LEDs, or small groups of LEDs. The discrete surfaces may be substantially orthogonal to the rays of light that are incident upon the surfaces from the associated LED(s) to reduce the amount of light reflected back to the associated LED(s).

  • Patent number: 8101022
Abstract: A crystal-growing furnace system with an emergent pressure-release arrangement includes an isolated chamber and a furnace upper body. The top board is provided with an opening and three first guides, and the furnace upper body with a lower opening and three second guides, wherein the lower opening of the furnace upper body covers, correspondingly, on the opening of the top board. In case a crystal-growing furnace, combined oppositely by the furnace upper body and the furnace lower body, has an over-high internal pressure, the pressure will overcome the weight of, and lift up the furnace upper body. At this moment, the furnace upper body will slightly move upward and away from enclosing the furnace lower body, so that the over-high internal pressure in the furnace will be released immediately to prevent the furnace from being exploded and from resulting in public accidents.

  • Patent number: 8082889
Abstract: A system is provided that draws heat from an open-loop engine cycle into a closed-loop working fluid circulatory system that utilizes computer-aided feedback mechanisms. The closed-loop working fluid draws engine heat from multiple sources: exhaust stack gases, the engine block, the engine transmission, and the engine headers and exhaust manifold near the valves. Heat exchangers are arranged in an ascending pattern according to the temperature of the heat at each heat generating location of the open-loop engine cycle. A wankel or similar type engine receives the heated working fluid and rotates a shaft connected to a generator to generate electricity. An electrolysis unit is powered by the generated electricity and separates water into hydrogen and oxygen. A reformation unit receives fuel such as diesel and the generated hydrogen to reform the fuel prior to injection into the engine for combustion.

  • Patent number: 8062423
Abstract: A crystal-growing furnace with a convectional cooling structure includes a furnace body, a heating room, and at least one heater. The heating room is accommodated in the furnace body, and includes an upper partition, a plurality of side partitions, and a lower partition. The upper partition is provided with an upper opening, and the lower partition with a central opening. Further, the heating room is provided with an upper door, a lower door, an upper driver, and a lower driver. When silicon slurry is to be cooled and solidified, cooling gaseous stream flows into a lower portion of the heating room through the central opening. Then the upper opening is opened by the upper door which is driven by the upper driver, so that heated gaseous stream is discharged from the upper opening and flows downward along furnace inside wall, and flows back to the heating room from the central opening.
