  • Patent number: 7434697
Abstract: A disposable, spin-on fluid filter is constructed and arranged to mount onto a base that is configured with a threaded mounting shaft. The base provides a fluid inlet flow to the filter and a fluid exit path from the filter. The filter construction includes a housing canister having a closed end and an opposite, open end and a fluid filtering media positioned within the housing canister. A mounting post is formed as part of the closed first end of the housing canister. The mounting post is constructed and arranged for assembly to the threaded mounting shaft of the base. The design focuses on the elimination of any nutplate and on repositioning the location where the fluid filter is connected to the head to the closed end of the canister.

  • Patent number: 7406879
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for measuring static pressure in a warm gas flow while minimizing particulate deposit formation includes a housing containing the flow of gas, a pressure sensor, and a heated pressure sampling tube attached to the sensor, with the tube sampling the gas flow. The heated sampling tube reduces the temperature gradient between the gas and the tube, reducing thermophoretic forces that contribute to deposit formation. The sampling tube extends through the housing into the gas flow in one embodiment, enabling the gas to heat the tube and locating the open end of the tube in a higher-flow area of the gas, further reducing deposit formation.

  • Patent number: 7377101
Abstract: The invention provides a NOx adsorber aftertreatment system for internal combustion engines which utilizes a plasma fuel converter operatively coupled to at least one NOx adsorber to aid in the regeneration of the NOx adsorber. Fuel and engine exhaust is injected into a plasma fuel converter upstream of a NOx absorber producing reductant such as H2, and CO, which are inlet into the NOx absorber. Reductants such as H2 and CO acting along and together help to efficiently regenerate the NOx Adsorber which in turn releases exhausts products such as CO2 and N2. Using the reductants generated by the plasma fuel converter NOx adsorbers, catalytic soot filter, and the like can be regenerated at exhaust temperatures less than 250° C. The plasma fuel converter, NOx adsorber regenerating aftertreatment system of the present invention may be used with any suitable control system.

  • Patent number: 7334399
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for intermittently delivering fluid. An injector intermittently delivers a first quantity of fluid over a first time interval. In one embodiment, the injector is passively cooled. In a certain embodiment, the injector delivers the first quantity of fluid responsive to a fluid flow measurement of a flow meter. An orifice diverts the first quantity of fluid from a primary fluid supply system over a second time interval without decreasing the supply of fluid to a primary load within a flow rate range while the fluid pressure remains within a pressure range. An accumulator accumulates at the least the first quantity of fluid as a fluid charge with positive energy.

  • Patent number: 7294161
Abstract: A filter includes a filter element mounted to a base and having first and second end caps spaced axially along an axis. Fluid to be filtered flows laterally through the filter element and axially through a hollow interior and through an axial flow opening of the second end cap. The filter element is mounted to the base solely by the second end cap in rotational relationship independently of the first end cap, eliminating the third component traditionally needed for mounting a housing cover to the base and enclosing and/or sealing and/or retaining the filter element in the housing.
