    Abstract: A pile carpet after tufting or the like is usually provided on the back with a latex precoat for stabilization and then provided with a foam back or an additional jute fabric. This environmentally hazardous method and the problem of recycling the foam back as well as the latex layer can be avoided If a nonwoven is applied instead to the tufted back of the carpet by water needling. This is possible with water needling in that the solidification of the pile fibers in or on the primary carrier takes place but no nonwoven fibers reach the visible side of the carpet. The back layer to be needled can also be made thicker and mote voluminous. Instead of a carpet, any other pile goods can also be stabilized in this fashion.

    Abstract: Water needling is used to constantly subject the entire surface of a width of a goods line to water jets. However, it is also advantageous for units of commodity goods that are to be consolidated and optionally, if a cover nonwoven supporting these goods only needs to be consolidated around them or if a cover nonwoven is to be bonded around the goods. All possible patterns, such as line or strip consolidation, are advantageous. This is made possible by the invention, which provides for measures which specifically control, e.g. partially impede and/or interrupt the flow of the water jets from a water beam. This can occur by means of cover panels which advance with the line, supported by a screen or by means of a screen alone. Individually movable, computer-controlled nozzles are also advantageous for partial consolidation.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a device for treating web-type textiles, nonwovens or paper in a continuous stream, uses a gaseous treatment agent that circulates in the device. The product lies on the exterior face of a permeable drum (5), which is subjected to an induced draught and has two base sections (11, 12) on its front face, more precisely on a sieve-type or perforated surface (9), which covers the drum structure. A perforated drum jacket (15), whose edges are merely clipped into the two base sections (11, 12) extends between said base sections (11, 12). To achieve this, an annular groove (17) is machined into the base sections (11, 12). The edge of the sheet metal (15) and a ring-shaped clip segment (23) are inserted into said groove and are retained there by means of screws.

The nozzle strip required to produce the liquid jets is mounted in a liquid-tight manner in the lower part of the housing and is cross-flown by pressurized water. In order to enable more needle water to reach the fabric than is usual with such a construction, two strips of nozzles are mounted in a housing and must be provided accordingly with pressurized water.

    Abstract: The inner circumferential surface of a suction pipe must be periodically cleaned as well as the inner region of the suction slit and especially the webs between the suction holes of the suction pipe. The aim of the invention is to facilitate said cleaning process. To this end, a standard cleaning spray gun is provided with a long cleaning lance comprising a rotor nozzle on the end thereof. In order to clean the suction pipe, said lance can be passed through a hole on the front side of the fixed suction pipe. The dirt released and the remaining suction water can thus be evacuated on the other front side in a problem-free manner.

    Abstract: A suction device for use in a textile machine, especially a water jet weaving installation has a slot between two glide strips for a transport device transporting the textile material that terminates radially inwards in a stationary suction tube into the thicker wall of which a suction slot is milled across the entire working length, thereby removing the need for bores having intermediate webs that are soiled by the lint suctioned off. The longitudinal slot in the suction tube is held at the desired distance by U-shaped straps that are distributed across the length of the slot. The straps are held on the suction tube by screws and are arrow-shaped in the zone of their base limbs so that the lint is unimpeded as it flows past this surface.

    Abstract: It is known from the art to mount a wire gauze (10) onto a drum (1) with a permeable drum jacket (8) under pretension, for example, for allowing air to flow through a web of material placed on said drum, said wire gauze optionally being disposed even at a distance to the drum jacket surface. The air thus flows more evenly across the surface of the web of material and no visible marks on the web of material, caused by the contact of the web with the intermediate space between the holes of the drum, occur. The wire gauze has to be elastically fastened on the front faces of the drum to compensate also for thermal stresses. According to the invention, preferably U-shaped spring elements (11) extending radially to the axis of the drum are fastened on the front face of the drum and on a tensioning ring (13) for the gauze provided on the level of the drum outer diameter.

    Abstract: Known methods involve applying a layer of particularly highly absorbent fibers such as woodpulp on a carrier nonwoven and then compacting the composite nonwoven with the aid of water entanglement. One disadvantage of the compacting method is the high woodpulp fiber loss and the associated purification of the circulating water for the entanglement device. According to the invention, a fine layer of microfibers is initially applied before applying the woodpulp fibers. The microfibers are evenly distributed on the carrier nonwoven using, for instance, a meltblown process and the woodpulp fibers are only then applied in the separating layer. The water during entanglement can no longer merge the woodpulp fibers into the carrier nonwoven due to the fact that the microfibers act as a barrier.

    Abstract: The suction slit between two sliding strips for a transport device transporting the textile material is filled by a cleaning strip which has holes on one side to carry away the fluid to be drawn off and preferably on the other side as well, on the top of a separating strip, to determine the width of the suction slit. In this fashion, the fibers loosened by needling come to rest on the ribs of the holes in the cleaning strip and not on the ribs on the openings in the suction tube and thus can be removed quickly from the suction device by replacing the cleaning strip. In addition, the width of the effective suction slit can be changed quickly by replacing it by another cleaning strip in which the width of one or two separating strips is dimensioned accordingly.

There is a simpler and thus more economically producible device of this type when instead of the needling drum this compacting unit consists only of two continuous belts which however should be guided such that at the inlet the two working sides of the continuous belts slowly compact and press the incoming nonwoven, and then the belts lying on one another are moved past the nozzle bank as they are held pressed. Additional deflection rollers are used for this purpose.
