Patent number: 8028962Abstract: The disclosed device provides an improved mounting assembly for securely supporting elongated items against a surface. The assembly provides a mount with an aperture, which interacts with a flexible tie for retaining the items. The aperture contains a tab, which provides frictional force for the flexible tie when it is placed through the aperture in a preassembled state. The device may also include a diaphragm and a mounting stud extending downwardly from the mount. The diaphragm will provide tension and resistance when the mounting stud is inserted into a supporting surface. The stud may also contain staggered or asymmetrical branches that extend from either side of a center section of the stud. Furthermore, the stud may include a pilot branch located at the end of the stud that will be inserted into the supporting surface. The stud may have a spine and rib that assist in securing the device within a surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2004Date of Patent: October 4, 2011Assignee: HellermannTyton CorporationInventor: Gerard G. Patent number: 7753320Abstract: Disclosed is an improved mounting assembly for securely supporting elongated items against a surface. The assembly includes a device to attach at least one elongate object to the mount, a spring section, and a mount section. The mount section is in the form of a rectangular fir tree mount. The rectangular fir tree mount has a tapered tip and a generally rectangular shape. The center segment of the rectangular fir tree mount includes a number of curved branches. The spring section includes flexible springs extending downwardly from the mount. The flexible springs provide tension and resistance when the mount is inserted into a supporting surface. The flexible springs and the branches allow the rectangular fir tree mount to be utilized on panels of varying thicknesses.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2006Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: HellermannTyton CorporationInventors: Gerard G. Patent number: 7753321Abstract: A harness clamp tie includes a locking head and a flexible strap extending outwardly from the locking head. The strap is insertable through the locking head to form a loop that can be used at least one item. A pawl in the locking head secures the strap. Nonslip rails formed along the outer edge of the strap face and clamping rails formed on the locking head aid in securing small items. Conic friction points are formed on both sides of the strap surface to provide a mechanical grip for pulling the strap through the locking head. A mounting fastener extends from the locking head in the opposite direction. The fastener secures the tie to a mounting structure such as an aperture in a panel. The fastener includes a pair of flexible winged springs which help to stabilize the tie and hold the tie perpendicular to the panel.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2008Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: HellermannTyton CorporationInventor: Gerard G. Patent number: 7691462Abstract: A label assembly comprised of a carrier strip and a plurality of labels. The carrier strip comprises at least a first backing layer and a layer of adhesive material located over said first backing layer. A second backing layer may be located over said adhesive layer. Predetermined areas are removed from the second backing area to expose the adhesive layer, which allows the labels to be removably adhered to the carrier strip. Sections may be further cutout of the carrier strip for a dual-sided printing arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2004Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: HellermannTyton CorporationInventors: Michael S. Patent number: 7591451Abstract: Provided is a tensioning clutch to be used in a tool for tensioning bundle, or cable, ties. A tensioning clutch according to the present invention includes a pawl mechanism having a removable pawl insert adapted to be reoriented or replaced without requiring significant disassembly of the housing of the tool. A tensioning clutch according to the present invention includes a pawl link, a tension abutment at least partly contemporaneously movable with the pawl link, and a pawl mechanism movably coupled to the pawl link. The pawl mechanism includes a pawl insert having one or more tie engagement surfaces, the insert being detachably coupled to a pawl body. The tie engagement surface of the insert may be biased towards, and movable away from, the tension abutment.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2007Date of Patent: September 22, 2009Assignee: HellermannTyton CorporationInventors: Edward P. Patent number: 7437804Abstract: A clamp tie includes a locking head and flexible straps extending therefrom. The straps are insertable through the locking head to form spaced loops, which may secure items in a spaced relationship. Pawl mechanisms in the locking head secure the straps in looped configuration. An aperture through the locking head is provided for securing the tie to a mounting structure such as a shouldered mounting stud. An additional pawl mechanism may be provided within the aperture to secure the tie to the stud. Arcuate surfaces extend from the locking head, spaced from the straps, to further engage secured items. The upper and lower surfaces of the locking head have counterbores to receive mounting hardware and provide minimal variance of wall thickness throughout the locking head to reduce cure time and materials required for manufacture.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2007Date of Patent: October 21, 2008Assignee: HellermannTyton CorporationInventors: Gerard G.
