Abstract: A collapsible liquid reservoir has a flexible side wall having a lower step, a middle step and an upper step. Each of the steps includes a riser segment and a tread segment. The riser and tread segments are pivotably connected to one another at an external hinge. When the step is collapsed its segments define an acute step angle between them of about 23°. When the step is expanded its segments define an obtuse step angle between them of about 115°. The tread of at least one step is pivotably connected to the riser of an adjacent step at an internal hinge. The step segments joined to the internal hinge are symmetrical about a bisector of that hinge. The reservoir has a truncated pyramid shape defined by a generally square base and four trapezoidal side panels joined to one another at corners.

Abstract: A sensor device for identifying an ostomy effluent leak location in an ostomy system includes a stoma opening and electrically conductive circuitry arranged in pattern around the stoma opening. The electrically conductive circuitry includes a first electrode and a second electrode spaced from the first electrode. The first electrode is subdivided by a plurality of resistors spaced along a length of the first electrode. The second electrode extends as a continuous strip of conductive material. The sensor device is configured to detect electrical resistance in the electrically conductive circuit and identify a location of a leak based on the detected electrical resistance.

Abstract: A trans-anal irrigation (TAI) device has a pump base unit, an irrigation fluid reservoir, a wireless electronic controller, fluid tubing, and a disposable rectal catheter in fluid communication with the tubing. The rectal catheter has a retention balloon and a waste control valve. The fluid tubing contains two or three separate lumens for irrigation fluid and retention balloon inflation/deflation and optionally for waste control valve actuation. None of the lumens ever communicates with any other lumen. A hydraulic control circuit has a pump that pumps in one direction only but, with suitable control valves, is able to pump water to and from the retention balloon and to and from an optional waste control valve. A water temperature sensor is mounted in the pump base unit at a thin-wall section. The temperature sensor sends a signal to a controller which provides an indication of whether the water temperature is suitable for use.

Abstract: An ostomy appliance includes a multilayer composite film comprising at least one foam layer. An outer foam layer can function as a skin contact layer providing comfort and softness characteristics that are comparable to a nonwoven comfort layer. Preferably, at least one foam layer includes a vinyl-bond rich triblock copolymer and provides sound absorbing properties. The multilayer composite film can also include at least one layer comprising a filler to further enhance sound absorbing properties.
Abstract: An ostomy barrier extender includes a skin friendly adhesive layer, a backing layer laminated on a surface of the skin friendly adhesive layer, a release liner laminated on an opposite surface of the skin friendly adhesive layer, at least one perforated feature, an outer periphery, an inner periphery, and a ring shaped body defined between the outer periphery and the inner periphery. The ostomy barrier extender is configured to separate along at least one perforated feature.

Abstract: A flushable catheter assembly includes a catheter shaft having proximal and distal end portions. The catheter may include a funnel assembly associated with the distal end portion of the catheter shaft and/or an introducer cap assembly associated with the proximal end portion of the catheter shaft. A groove is defined along at least a portion of an outer perimeter of the funnel assembly or introducer cap assembly, with the groove being configured to receive at least a portion of the catheter shaft for wrapping the catheter shaft around the outer perimeter when disposing of the catheter. Instead of (or in addition to) a groove, one or more channels may pass through the funnel assembly to receive a portion of the catheter shaft for securing the catheter shaft to the funnel assembly for disposal. The catheter assembly and/or its individual components may be formed of a water disintegrable material.
