Abstract: Disclosed is an expression regulatory system for cell-specific transcription (expression) of a protein of interest, for example a cell cycle inducer that reactivates proliferation in adult or neonatal cardiomyocytes or insulin-producing beta cells. The expression regulatory system comprises a first nucleic acid that encodes a microRNA recognition element that specifically binds a target cell miR, and a translation suppressor protein; and a second nucleic acid that comprises a suppressor protein interaction motif that binds the translation suppressor protein, and a gene that encodes a protein of interest. When a cell of interest is co-transfected with the first and second nucleic acids of the system, the protein of interest expressed in a cell-specific fashion.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for identifying one or more health care applications in which a search request is received from a user at a remote client device. The request comprises an alphanumeric query and filtering criteria. A plurality of applications is searched to identify applications that satisfy the filtering criteria and further match the alphanumeric query thereby identifying a set of matching applications. Each respective application in the plurality of applications is (i) for a clinical indication and (ii) includes an evidence score generated by health care providers. The search query response is formatted for display by sorting the matching applications by sorting criteria thereby forming a sorted list of matching applications. At least a portion of the sorting criteria is the evidence score. The search query response, including the sorted list of matching applications, is communicated to the remote client device.
Abstract: Provided herein are antibodies that bind to neuraminidase (NA) of different strains of influenza B virus, host cells for producing such antibodies, and kits comprising such antibodies. Also provided herein are compositions comprising antibodies that bind to NA of different strains of influenza B virus and methods of using such antibodies to diagnose, prevent or treat influenza virus disease.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods of suppressing adaptor dimer formation comprising: providing a target polynucleotide with a 5? and 3? end; providing a double stranded DNA adaptor with a 5? end and a 3? end that have sequence complementary to each other, ligating the double stranded adaptor to the target polynucleotide to form a ligation product. Also provided is a method of preparing a library of nucleic acid sequences comprising: providing a double-stranded DNA adaptor with 5? and 3? ends having a sequence complementary to each other, contacting the adaptor with a target nucleic acid sequences having a 5? and a 3? end, and ligating the adaptor with complementary sequence to the 5? and 3? ends of the target nucleic acid sequence using a double stranded DNA ligase. The disclosure also provides kits for suppression of adaptor dimer formation in deep sequencing containing a double stranded DNA adaptor with 5? and 3? ends having a sequence complementary to each other, suitable enzymes, buffers, dNTPS, etc.

Abstract: A system and method for determining native cardiac output of a heart while maintaining operation of an intracardiac blood pump includes determining a current drawn by the pump motor, a blood pressure within the ascending aorta, and a change in the blood temperature based on a thermodilution technique. An intracardiac blood pump positioned in the aorta includes at least one sensor for determining a motor current and blood pressure and a thermistor for determining the change in blood temperature after a precise fluid bolus has been introduced into the vasculature. A processor receives current, pressure, and temperature measurements, and calculates a pump flow output and a total cardiac output from which the native cardiac output is calculated. The native cardiac output and other clinically relevant variables derived from the measurements inform decisions related to continued therapeutic care, including increasing or decreasing cardiac assistance provided by the intracardiac pump.

Abstract: Materials and methods for identifying carriers of genetic determinants of spinal muscular atrophy are disclosed. In particular, polymorphisms in linkage disequilibrium are associated as markers of spinal muscular atrophy alleles detectable by various techniques, including multiplex ligation-dependent probe analysis, sequence analysis, and RFLP detection. The materials and methods of the disclosure are particularly useful in identifying silent (2+0) carriers of spinal muscular atrophy in which two copies of the SMN1 gene are located on a single human chromosome 5 and no copies of the gene are located on the chromosome 5 homolog.
Abstract: A surgical method includes, for example, tracking, via at least one camera attached to a robotic arm of a surgical robot, a surgical site of a patient, the robotic arm having a plurality of joints and a plurality of body parts, controlling the robotic arm to perform a surgical procedure at the surgical site of the patient based on the camera tracked surgical site of the patient, and wherein the tracking comprises controlling the movement of the plurality of joints and body parts of the robotic arm to maintain a line of sight of the at least one camera directed towards the surgical site of the patient.
