The first unexcited state is then caused to become a second excited state by applying a voltage across said birefringent medium. A second set of images are captured in the second excited state and a second set of pixels of the second image is mapped to a second set of apertures. A value is calculated for each first and second set of images and the value associated with said first set of images is subtracted from at least two times the value calculated from said second set of image.

The method according to an embodiment of the invention does not make the assumption that surfaces of objects in the view are perfect Lambertian reflectors by providing a surface color segmentation which takes into account the change in appearance due to the nature of the surfaces.

This function is used to control the aiming direction (22) of the camera. It introduces a discrepancy between the rotation wanted by the user (21) and the rotation of the camera (22). An example purpose of the present disclosure is to encourage a user to rotate the camera toward reference directions, preventing him/her to rotate the camera toward the opposite direction. The present principles have the advantage to create pseudo-haptic effects, inciting the user to look toward a reference direction without making him/her sick.
