  • Patent number: 4448357
Abstract: An improved macerator adapted to shred crop material and having an annular perforated die ring and a roller operative within the die ring to extrude crop material through the perforations as the die ring and roller are power-rotated. The roller is journalled on a pivotable arm which is interconnected with the macerator frame by a shearable linkage permitting the roller to shift to an inoperative position if a material overload or a foreign object is encountered. A lock is automatically effective to positively retain the roller in the inoperative position until the condition can be corrected.

  • Patent number: 4437295
Abstract: The method for automatically controlling the height of a header used with a farm implement comprises the steps of: sensing the height of the header above ground; selecting a desired height of the header above ground; determining any difference error between the selected height and the sensed height; determining the direction of the difference error, up or down; generating an electrical correction pulse having a duty cycle directly related to the amount of the difference error; supplying the electrical correction pulse to solenoid operated valving means to cause same to supply and/or relieve a pulse of pressurized fluid to a mechanism for raising or lowering the header; and repeating the above steps automatically and continuously to move the header in intermittent pulses toward the selected height, thereby automatically to control the height of the header above ground.

  • Patent number: 4436289
Abstract: An automatic control for a multi-zone push type carburizing furnace capable of controlling the flow of either an endothermic gas atmosphere or a nitrogen methanol atmosphere at both high and low flow rates and during normal and suspend carburizing utilizes cascaded multi-stage valving to assure good separation of the atmospheres in adjacent zones. The first stage of the cascaded multi-stage valving controls the total gas flow, and the second stage routes the gas to individual zones of the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4433762
Abstract: A tractor vehicle transmission is provided with a two piston brake where each piston operates in opposite directions. A pair of gears are spaced apart and the brake resides between them. Thus upon actualization the brake will contact each gear causing retardation of the gear, its attendant shaft, and the transmission as a whole allowing simpler shifting of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 4425857
Abstract: A row unit with a mechanism which provides normal planting via a parallel bar linkage connection to the planter and which can be locked up in a raised, non-planting position when desired. The mechanism includes curved slotted openings in the lower bars of the linkage for frame mounted spacers as the frame pivots about the connection with the upper bars, and locking structure having detents to engage the spacers in the lowered working and raised non-working positions. The mechanism also prevents the release of the locking structure until the row unit weight is lifted therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4425058
Abstract: A centrifugal blower has an offset between a housing rim sheet and discharge conduit outer wall. A vertical panel attached to the rim sheet guides the feed material into the silo pipe center portion without contacting the conduit outer wall and discharge duct. An air inlet for secondary air flow is provided in this offset to supplement the principal air flow entering through material feed inlet into the blower and to provide an air cushion between the air-borne material and outer wall, as well as the initial portion of the discharge duct.

  • Patent number: 4421215
Abstract: A park lock interlock control system preventing the shifting of the vehicle transmission in gear positions when the drive train park lock is engaged. A two part interlock system comprises a park lock control including a crossover shaft and a transmission shift lever connected with a plate having a slot. The shaft projecting through the slot is able to rotate, thereby engaging or disengaging the drive train park lock, only when the shift lever is put in a neutral position, thus preventing an accidental transmission engagement in gear when the park lock is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4418763
Abstract: A tool bar having a hollow central section and oppositely extending offset hinged wings movable from a generally horizontal, transversely extending working position to a folded transport position. A hydraulic cylinder is positioned in the central section adjacent each wing and has its rod end pivotally connected to a pair of sliders below their center position for an effective lever action about the offset hinge with the sliders substantially spanning the hollow central section. The rod end is also pivotally connected to a pair of links via a slotted connection, with the links also being pivotally connected to the ear of a wing. The sliders reduce wing fall as the cylinder moves the wing from the working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position on top of the central section or vice versa. The slotted link connection prevents binding of the sliders against the central section during the procedures.

  • Patent number: 4417230
Abstract: An indicator system connected with a guide wheels steering hydraulic cylinder and informing a vehicle operator about the guide wheel angular position relative to the vehicle rectilinear travel direction under any weather, terrain or light conditions. Right and left contact plates located along one selection of the outer surface of the cylinder are contacted by a contact arm moving with the piston rod of the cylinder. Since the rod reciprocates depending on the direction of turning the contact is used to complete a circuit lighting a left or right turn lamp, thus indicating when a predetermined turn angle is exceeded in either direction.

  • Patent number: 4415040
Abstract: A fully mounted variable width plow of the roll-over type or not in which the tractor hitch links are pivoted about generally vertical axes permitting the hitch limited movement in a horizontal plane, which will allow the adjusted plow to maintain correct alignment under the action of the soil. The plow system includes a plow beam, to the forward end of which a forecarriage is pivotally attached about a vertical axis, and a plurality of interconnected plow bottom assemblies. Actuation of a hydraulic cylinder will result in equal pivotal movement of each plow bottom assembly relative to the plow beam as well as pivotal movement between the forecarriage and the plow beam.
