Abstract: A new polyester resin is produced by condensation polymerization of (a) a diol component of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkylene group of 2 to 4 carbon atoms; and x and y are positive integers, the sum of them being 2 to 16 on an average, and (b) an acid component of polybasic (at least dibasic) carboxylic acid, anhydride thereof, and lower alkyl ester thereof, said acid component (b) containing 1 to 50 mol % of a dibasic carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof of the formula: ##STR2## where R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon groups of 4 to 20 carbon atoms and 10 to 30 mol % of trimellitic acid or anhydride thereof. The polyester has improved toughness, abrasion resistance and flexibility.
Abstract: An aqueous slurry of a water-insoluble or slightly water-soluble metal hydroxide can be effectively filtrated and dehydrated by adding an anionic surfactant of the following formula (I):R--O--AO--.sub.n X (I)wherein R represents an alkyl or alkenyl group of 8-24 carbon atoms, A represents an alkyene group of 2-4 carbon atoms, X represents SO.sub.3 M (M being H, K, Na or NH.sub.4), PO.sub.3 M (M being K or Na) or CH.sub.2 COOM (M being K or Na), and n represents an interger of 1-100,to the aqueous slurry of the metal hydroxide or to the washing water.

Abstract: The specification describes a hair setting composition comprising as an effective component polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of 6,000-30,000. It also describes a hair setting composition comprising as effective components the following ingredients: (A) polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of 6,000-30,000 and (B) a divalent or trivalent metal salt of pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid and/or a polyoxyalkylene-added silicone oil. Such hair setting compositions may be formulated into an aerosol type or lotion or pump spray type and facilitates long-lasting hair styling without damaging hair.

Abstract: A plant growth regulating composition comprising the choline salt of 6-hydroxy-3(2H)-pyridazinone and, as adjuvants, a polyoxyethylene oleyl ether and a triethanolamine alkyl-sulfate. The composition according to this invention can be prepared at a lower production cost and is easy to apply. When applied, it exhibits low toxity, and good penetration and transferability.

Abstract: A porous sheet is disclosed that comprises a thin, flexible sheet made of thermoplastic resin having solid particles distributed therein. Small spaces are formed around the particles, such that abrasion or buffing of the opposite surfaces of the sheet causes the formation of a multitude of fine pores that extend through the sheet, making the sheet vapor-permeable but liquid-impermeable.
