  • Patent number: 6641770
Abstract: In a method of producing injection-molded parts, an injection mold has two mold halves and a melt feeding device for application of melt across the mold surface of a mold half, when the injection mold is open. The melt is pressed into all areas of the mold cavity, when closing the mold halves. In order to simplify the arrangement of the hot runners in the mold half, when different injection-molded parts are produced, it is proposed to apply the melt onto the mold surface by a hot runner plate which is positioned above the mold surface, whereby the hot runner plate has several melt nozzles in the form of needle seal nozzles which are operated and controlled depending on the profile required for the respective mold half.

  • Patent number: 6634405
Abstract: A method for bonding two DVD halves (23, 24) which are so held at a distance as to form a gap therebetween, includes introducing into the gap an adhesive (36) and spreading the adhesive across both disc halves. The invention is characterized by introducing the adhesive via a central opening of the DVD by means of e.g. L-shaped metering needles (63) which are pivotally guided in a central pin that engages the central opening, or flexible plastic needles which are slidably guided in a guide tube. Through introduction of the adhesive via the central opening enables a flow to the outside, without interference from the metering needles, when the DVD halves (23, 24) rotate. There is no buildup of adhesive in front of the metering needle. The bonding process can be carried out without interruption of the application of adhesive until the spin-off has concluded.

Abstract: A closing unit for an injection molding machine for making several injection molded articles in one working cycle includes a fixed mold portion and a movable mold portion which is movable by a drive mechanism in a direction of the fixed mold portion. The fixed and movable mold portions bound a mold cavity, when the movable mold portion is forced by the drive mechanism against the fixed mold portion and held in place in a clamped position by a clamping force applied by the drive mechanism. A separator assembly subdivides the mold cavity into at least two distinct cavity zones, with each cavity zone including sub-cavities. Injection molding material is supplied through a single sprue via separate feed channels to the cavity zones, wherein a valve assembly is disposed in the sprue to control the supply of injection molding material to the cavity zones via the feed channels in time-staggered manner, when the mold portions assume their clamped position.

  • Patent number: 6623153
Abstract: A charging device includes a feed pipe, constructed for connection to a plasticizing unit of an injection-molding machine, and a compaction cylinder, which has a lower end supported by the feed pipe and an upper end received in a retaining flange to which a support plate is attached, whereby the upper end of the compaction cylinder, the retaining flange and the support plate extend in a same plane. Support pillars bear two parallel displacement rails fixed to the retaining flange. A support base is displaceable on these displacement rails between two positions and supports a compaction ram and a storage container. A hydraulic adjustment cylinder moves the compaction ram and the storage container alternately in alignment with the compaction cylinder. To gain access to the feed pipe for cleaning during material change, the compaction cylinder is coupled to the compaction ram to form a structural unit which can be raised upwards.

  • Patent number: 6619834
Abstract: Integrated in the mixing head of a polyurethane apparatus for producing a mixture stream of chemically reactive plastic components, is a cutting arrangement by which natural fibers or fiber strands of soft-elastic and tough consistency can be drawn from a continuous strand and, after cutting into fiber pieces of given length, can be introduced into the mixture stream. The cutting arrangement includes an inner guide tube which receives a fiber strand, drawn from a continuous fiber strand by two feed rollers, and fed via the guide tube and an outer support tube to rotating knife elements. By subjecting the guide tube to a vacuum and applying a compressed gas stream to the end of the outer support tube, the soft-elastic fiber strand is held straight in a manner which is optimal for the cutting process. The cut fiber pieces are introduced together with the gas stream into the mixture stream of chemically reactive plastic components.
