  • Publication number: 20030038406
Abstract: An injection unit for an injection molding machine includes a plasticizing unit in the form of an extruder, a plunger-type injection device, which can be connected to the injection molding machine by an injection nozzle. The plunger-type injection device defines an injection space. The extruder has a forward portion which is connected to the injection space by a melt through channel in which a shutoff valve is disposed. The extruder is operated continuously and includes one or more plasticizing screws, wherein the extruder is configured in such a way that the backup length can expand backwards into the extruder, when the shutoff valve is closed.

  • Publication number: 20020176907
Abstract: An injection nozzle for mixing heads of reaction molding machines is disclosed which comprises a housing in which a adjustment assembly is provided for slidably moving between two adjustable stops, wherein the adjustment assembly is configured as a control sleeve which includes a pressure chamber with a movable control piston disposed therein and the pressure chamber can be impinged upon by a pressure medium, for example hydraulic fluid and wherein a first stop is provided for the control sleeve and a second stop is provided for the control plunger thereby permitting an adjustment of two operating points that are exactly reproducible, so as to prevent disturbances during operation of the molding process.

  • Patent number: 6464483
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for receiving and transporting molded parts in order to especially permit the removal of plastic molded parts produced in injection molding machines from the cavities, and to permit the transport of the molded parts through a number of work stations, without the use of separate handling systems. According to the invention, circulating transfer frames are provided from which retaining elements project and reach into the cavity to closely abut the mold. The molded part is bonded to the retaining element during injection molding of the molded part and is thus fixed in the transfer frame for transport to additional work stations. The molded part is removed from the retaining elements at the end of the transport line. In a modification, the molded part is molded directly or via intermediate pieces onto a circulating rope or a chain conveyor, or on rods mounted on a rope.

  • Publication number: 20020136083
Abstract: A screw for a plastics processing machine includes a screw body made of a base material, which is no longer useful as a consequence of wear. A single-ply or multi-ply a buffer layer made of magnetically conductive metallic material is applied onto the crest of the screw body by means of a thermal spraying process, and a wear-reducing coating made of molybdenum or a molybdenum-containing alloy and applied onto the buffer layer by means of a thermal spraying process This provides a simple way of ensuring that the regenerated screw has a long service life and is resistant to heavy loads.

  • Publication number: 20010030012
Abstract: A method for bonding two DVD halves (23, 24) which are so held at a distance as to form a gap therebetween, includes introducing into the gap an adhesive (36) and spreading the adhesive across both disc halves. The invention is characterized by introducing the adhesive via a central opening of the DVD by means of e.g. L-shaped metering needles (63) which are pivotally guided in a central pin that engages the central opening, or flexible plastic needles which are slidably guided in a guide tube. Through introduction of the adhesive via the central opening enables a flow to the outside, without interference from the metering needles, when the DVD halves (23, 24) rotate. There is no buildup of adhesive in front of the metering needle. The bonding process can be carried out without interruption of the application of adhesive until the spin-off has concluded.

  • Patent number: 6280174
Abstract: A molding apparatus includes a core (3) and a female mold member (4) as well as wraparound peripheral dies (7), which are attached to the core for movement in a closing direction and completely surround the core (3). In the region of the impact areas of the peripheral dies (7) upon the female mold member (4), the impacting surfaces are configured complementary, for example planar. Each peripheral die (7) is attached laterally to the core by at least one spacer and retaining element (8, 10), with the spacer element (8) having a width which is slightly greater than a cross section of the peripheral die, so that a small gap (9) is formed between confronting surfaces of the peripheral dies and the core. The fixed tolerance gap offers the advantage that constant, minimum frictional conditions exist. The lateral attachment facilitates the replacement of individual peripheral dies (7) and temperature-based dimensional changes of the core (3) are followed by the peripheral dies, without risk of jamming.

  • Patent number: 6102560
Abstract: An extruder screw, includes a head portion having a front end and having formed therein a temperature-control bore and a counterbore extending the bore to the front end for supply and drainage of a fluid. A locking screw has a screw thread, with a first section of the screw thread received in the bore and a second section of the screw thread extending in the counterbore and projecting out of the head portion. The extruder screw further includes a screw tip which threadably engages the second section of the screw thread to close off the extruder screw, and a sealing member which is received in a counterbore of the head portion, wherein the locking screw is so configured as to apply a substantial force against the sealing member when engaging the locking screw into the bore, to thereby effectively seal the bore.
