  • Patent number: 4463415
Abstract: A timing generator for use with multi-phase controlled rectifier systems is disclosed in which a ramp signal is produced in phase synchronization with the power source and compared with the value of a command signal. The command signal is indicative of the desired SCR ignition angle. A sequencing circuit, having a finite number of output states is cyclically stepped from one state to the next by a comparator. The sequencing circuit couples a source of SCR-gating pulses to the appropriate SCR in accordance with its state and with a predetermined pattern of SCR ignitions which characterize the multi-phase source. One aspect of the invention provides the multiplexing of the comparator output whereby the command signal is offset by 60.degree. (electrical) after each comparator transition to set up conditions for the next transition.A further aspect of the invention provides for the generation of an alternate ramp, 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 4461994
Abstract: The tachometer of the present invention has a stator member with a pair of opposed stator elements. The stator member is mounted on the apparatus. Windings are provided on the stator elements in which the electric signal is generated.A magnetic means is provided for establishing a magnetic flux between the stator segments. For this purpose, magnets may be mounted on the exterior of the stator segments and the portions of the apparatus adjacent the segments used as the flux return path. Or, magnets may bridge the two stator segments.A magnetically permeable rotor is mounted on the apparatus shaft. The rotor may be formed of steel laminations with no rotating winding and has a plurality of peripheral projections that alter the reluctance of the magnetic path in the teeth as they rotate, inducing a speed responsive signal in the windings. The maximum speed of the rotor is limited only by the strength of the steel.

  • Patent number: 4449228
Abstract: An improved PBL X-ray system in which the collimator is automatically adjusted so that the X-ray field size at an image receptor conforms to the image receptor size and the X-ray source to image receptor distance. Swivelling of the collimator in a plane parallel to the image receptor is detected and operation of the X-ray source is disabled. Manual operation may be obtained by removing the image receptor from its holder. Swivelling the collimator plus or minus 90.degree. exchanges the normally detected image receptor cross and longitudinal dimensions to automatically realign the collimator and image receptor axis. A PBL time delay is provided to prevent premature and undesired operation of the collimator shutters.

  • Patent number: 4445056
Abstract: In an electric motor operating with a liquid filled housing, friction and hydraulic losses are reduced and heat removal is improved. A first collar is mounted on the end of the stator coaxially therewith. A second collar is positioned in proximity to the first collar. An annular plate extends from the second collar and faces the end of the rotor. The plate is spaced from the end of the rotor and from the rotor shaft. The rotor has a surface opposing the annular plate. The collars and annular plate form a liquid turbulence reducing shroud for the end of said rotor. The opposing surfaces of the annular plate and rotor move liquid outwardly toward the stator bore and the collars divert the liquid down the air gap for heat removal purposes. The first collar protects the end turns of the stator from abrasion by the moving liquid.
