Patent number: 6591793Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for controlling HC in exhaust, with Schnuerle type 2-cycle engine. When piston reaches near dead center point, the ends of the channel at the bottom end of piston reach from outlet ports and No. 1 transfer ports, and exhaust gas from outlet ports moves to the top of No. 1 transfer ports, and there a specified amount is kept. With scavenging, the pair of No. 1 transfer ports open first to combustion chamber, and the exhaust gas is introduced to combustion chamber, after which the pair of No. 2 transfer ports is opened to combustion chamber, and the air-fuel mixture is introduced to combustion chamber. Exhaust gas first introduced from No. 1 transfer ports creates a reverse eddy, and there is scavenging within combustion chamber, purging gas as it is into exhaust port. Air-fuel mixture introduced later from No. 2 transfer ports is limited in purging, and is kept in combustion chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2001Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: Maruyama Mfg. Patent number: 6591792Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for reducing hydrocarbons in two-stroke engine exhaust. When a piston is close to top dead center, a groove in the lower end region of the piston confronts an exhaust port and first scavenging ports, respectively, and exhaust gas from the exhaust port is directed to the first scavenging ports. During a scavenging stroke, the first scavenging ports open first to a combustion chamber and exhaust gas is introduced to the combustion chamber, and a second pair of scavenging ports then opens to the combustion chamber and introduces a fuel-containing gas to the combustion chamber. When crankcase pressure reaches 142 Pa or higher, a relief valve opens and maintains the maximum pressure at 142 kPa or lower. Thus, blending in the combustion chamber of the exhaust gas from the first scavenging ports and the fuel-containing gas from the second scavenging ports is suppressed, and short-circuiting of the fuel component to the exhaust port is suppressed.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2001Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: Maruyama Mfg. Patent number: 6575695Abstract: A centrifugal blower capable of reducing noise. The centrifugal blower comprises an impeller having a hub plate and a set of blades disposed on at least one surface of the hub plate so as to surround an axis of rotation; and a casing surrounding the impeller and having a volute portion disposed at an outer peripheral portion thereof. The portion of casing facing the set of blades is formed with a plurality of through holes, whereas a sound absorbing material is attached thereto so as to cover the through holes. The noise caused by a compression wave of air occurring between the blades of impeller and the inner face of casing is efficiently absorbed by a sound absorbing material disposed adjacent the blades.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2000Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Maruyama Mfg. Patent number: 6526624Abstract: A blower tube connected to a blower of an air-jet type cleaner comprises a straight tube part having one end connected to the blower; and a deflecting part, extending from the other end of the straight tube part, for receiving an airflow within the straight tube part and deflecting thus received airflow. A nozzle for jetting out the airflow deflected by the deflecting part is defined in the straight tube part and deflecting part. The deflecting part does not protrude sideways from the straight tube part. In this configuration, the blower tube can be handled as if it is a straight rod-like body, and can be inserted into a narrow space for cleaning.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2001Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Maruyama Mfg. Patent number: 6511286Abstract: A centrifugal blower comprises an impeller; and a casing, having an intake port disposed at a region opposing the air inlet portion of impeller, for accommodating the impeller. The casing is provided with a port cover constituted by rod-shaped members which are arranged in a net structure, in order to cover the intake port of casing. A trailing edge portion of the rod-shaped members is formed with a slanted surface. Due to this slanted surface, the flow of air passing through the port cover so as to flow into the air inlet portion is smoothly deflected away from the axis of rotation of impeller. As a consequence, swirls are restrained from occurring, whereby a sound-insulating effect is exhibited.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2001Date of Patent: January 28, 2003Assignee: Maruyama Mfg. Patent number: 6173683Abstract: A two-stroke cycle engine having an improvement of its power output while reducing total hydrocarbons in the exhaust gases. The two-stroke cycle engine comprises a crank chamber adapted to receive a fuel mixture through feed means and a combustion chamber in a cylinder. Scavenging ports are provided for communication between the combustion chamber and the crank chamber to transfer the fuel mixture from the crank chamber to the combustion chamber while a exhaust port is provided for exhausting the burned gases from the combustion chamber. Reciprocation of the piston results in increase or decrease in volume of the combustion chamber while opening or closing the exhaust port and the scavenging ports. Communication means are provided for communicating the exhaust port with the crank chamber via the scavenging ports to draw a portion of the burned gases from the exhaust port into the crank chamber when the piston is in its top dead center.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1999Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: Maruyama Mfg.
