Patent number: 6490513Abstract: A vehicle data archive system is provided. An instrumentation interface receives at least one sensory data signal of the vehicle. A memory stores the at least one sensory data signal. A first transponder responds to a periodic provider signal of a trusted third party (TTP)/service provider for creating a corresponding shared encryption key, which is used to generate a digital signature from the stored data, the signature may be stored with the data or returned to the TTP/service provider. The signature is used to authenticate the data stored in the archive system. The encryption value used to generate the signature may be stored locally in the data archive or obtained from the TTP/service provider. The data in the data archive may also be stored without encryption. The system also allows an authorized user to delete a portion of the stored encrypted sensory data.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Robert Fish, Dennis Bushmitch, David Braun, Chieh-Chung Chang, Stephen Johnson, Mahfuz Rahman, Luyang Li

Patent number: 6463413Abstract: A distributed speech processing system for constructing speech recognition reference models that are to be used by a speech recognizer in a small hardware device, such as a personal digital assistant or cellular telephone. The speech processing system includes a speech recognizer residing on a first computing device and a speech model server residing on a second computing device. The speech recognizer receives speech training data and processes it into an intermediate representation of the speech training data. The intermediate representation is then communicated to the speech model server. The speech model server generates a speech reference model by using the intermediate representation of the speech training data and then communicates the speech reference model back to the first computing device for storage in a lexicon associated with the speech recognizer.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1999Date of Patent: October 8, 2002Assignee: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ted H. Patent number: 6414523Abstract: Disclosed is an output driver for driving a universal serial bus. The driver includes a first pull-up circuit, a second pull-up circuit, and a crossover detection circuit. The driver uses the first pull-up circuit to drive the output up to first predetermined voltage. The crossover detection circuit detects the first predetermined voltage and switches to driving the output with the second pull-up circuit. Patent number: 6209127Abstract: Memory is divided into a plurality of banks to store software which is upgraded one bank at a time. By doing so, a memory with the same size as one bank is only needed as the temporary storage used when performing an upgrade. The terminal device only needs a memory that is “1+1/n” times as large as a total software when there are n banks, while a conventional terminal device needs a memory that is twice as large as the total software. Two loader programs are stored in different banks as a master loader program used for download processing and a backup loader program. On receiving a new loader program, one loader program is used to write the new loader program over the other loader program so as to upgrade the loader program. The backup loader program is activated when the new loader program is to be written over the master loader program.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1998Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., LTDInventors: Toshiya Mori, Takashi Kakiuchi, Tetsuji Maeda, Hisayuki Kino, Yoshiyuki Miyabe

Patent number: 6208701Abstract: The synchronizing apparatus includes a block for detecting a code from an input signal, a block for detecting from the code the variable points of the code at several times as high as the symbol rate, a block for calculating a histogram of the detected variables of the code to time, and a block for deciding that the phase number at which the calculated histogram takes the maximum value is a symbol synchronization point. This synchronizing apparatus detects the zero-cross points of an intermediate frequency band signal at N times as high as the symbol rate. It also calculates a histogram of detected time (0 to N−1). The time (0 to N−1) at which the histogram is the maximum within a predetermined detected time is selected as a symbol clock, and thereby symbol synchronization is established.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1997Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Katsuhiko Hiramatsu, Mitsuru Uesugi, Hiroaki Sudo
