Abstract: A communications platform provides communication services for parties communicating in different languages. The communications platform may receive a language interpretation request from a first party via a telephone device and identify first and second languages associated with the request. The communications platform may determine whether the first party is associated with an account, to which a fee associated with the language interpretation is to be debited, and may forward the language interpretation request based on the association of the first party with the account.

Abstract: An approach provides interdomain traversal to support packetized voice transmissions. A request is received and specifies a directory number for establishing a communication session from a first endpoint to a second endpoint. The first endpoint is behind a first network address translator of a first domain, and the second endpoint is within a second domain. A service provider network is accessed to determine a network address for communicating with the second endpoint based on the directory number, to determine existence of a second network address translator within the second domain, and to establish, if the network address can be determined, a media path between the first endpoint and the second endpoint based on the network address to support the communication session. An encrypted session is established with a proxy server according to a cryptographic protocol to support the media path. The proxy server resides within the second domain.

Abstract: An approach provides interdomain traversal to support packetized voice transmissions. A request is received from a first endpoint of a first domain for establishing a communication session with a second endpoint of a second domain. Encrypted user credential information is retrieved from a credentials database resident within the first domain, wherein the encrypted user credential includes a password associated with a user associated with the first endpoint. Further, the encrypted user credential information is transmitted to a tunneling server in response to the request, wherein the tunneling server is configured to selectively setup a tunnel to support the communication session based on the encrypted user credential information. The tunnel traverses a first firewall and a first network address translator of the first domain and a second firewall and a second network address translator of the second domain to reach the second endpoint.

Abstract: An approach provides interdomain traversal to support packetized voice transmissions. A signaling message is received for establishing a voice call from a first endpoint associated with a first domain to a second endpoint associated with a second domain. The first endpoint queries a STUN (Simple Traversal of UDP (User Datagram Protocol)) server to determine information relating to a firewall and network address translator that the first endpoint is behind, and to log into a TURN (Traversal Using Relay NAT (Network Address Translation)) server configured to establish a media path between the first endpoint and the second endpoint. A first proxy server serving the first endpoint communicates with an ENUM (Electronic Number) server to convert a directory number corresponding to the second endpoint to a network address. The first proxy server communicates with a second proxy server serving the second endpoint to establish the voice call.

Abstract: An approach provides interdomain traversal packetized voice transmissions. A request is received from a first endpoint of a first domain for establishing a communication session with a second endpoint of a second domain. A tunnel is established by a TURN (Traversal Using Relay NAT (Network Address Translation)) server to support the communication session. The TURN server is controlled by a service provider as part of a managed communication service. The tunnel traverses a first firewall and a first network address translator of the first domain and a second firewall and a second network address translator of the second domain to reach the second endpoint, wherein the communication session is encrypted and transported via the tunnel.

Also included and involved is a pre-paid telephone calling card processing system that is coupled to the data storage system and which is configured to receive a request to record the personal greeting during a setup call over a telephone network and to cause the personal greeting to be recorded for subsequent playback. Abstract: An approach for supporting automated fault isolation and recovery is provided. A notification configuration option is transmitted to a browser interface utilized by a user associated with a customer network that is monitored by a service provider, wherein the user selects the notification configuration option to input notification information. The notification information is received, via the browser interface, from the customer. A notification message is received from a platform configured to create a workflow event in response to an alarm indicative of a fault within the customer network, wherein isolation and recovery of the fault is performed according to the workflow event, the notification message including information about the customer network during the fault isolation and recovery process. The notification message is transmitted in accordance with the stored notification information.

Abstract: A method and system for authenticating requests for accessing network resources are described. Network address information may be associated with a network resource user. An authenticator may maintain the associated network address information. The authenticator may receive, from a requesting party, a request to authenticate the network resource user, where the request may include a network address identifier. The network resource user may be authenticated based on the network address information and the network address identifier. The authentication determination may be forwarded to the requesting party for purposes of controlling access to a network resource of a network resource provider in response to an access request made by the network resource user.

The inbound call leg is processed using an interactive voice response (IVR) device, and an outbound call leg is generated based on processing the inbound call leg. The outbound call leg is made available to the network device. The inbound call leg and the outbound call leg are handed off from the IVR device to the network device.

Abstract: An approach for supporting automated fault isolation is provided. An alarm is received indicating a fault within a customer network that includes one or more network elements. The customer network being monitored by a service provider. A script is retrieved for specifying a dialogue with the network elements for data collection. A command is transmitted to the customer network according to the one script to obtain data from the network elements, wherein the data is utilized to determine the fault. Further, a workflow event corresponding to the alarm is generated, wherein resolution of the fault is automated according to the workflow event.

Abstract: A method and system for interfacing internet protocol-enabled emergency calls to a public 9-1-1 system are described. The method can include routing an emergency call originating from internet protocol telephony to a data network via a routing device which may include an identifier. The method can include transferring the routed emergency call to a predetermined public service answering point based on the identifier.
