Abstract: A system and method for routing and segregating cables is provided. An embodiment includes a support member having a plurality of cable trays coupled thereto. The cable trays may be arranged in a tiered-manner such that cable receiving portions of the cable trays extend farther than an adjacent cable tray in a longitudinal direction. Cables may then be routed to individual cable trays, which route the cables to a second location. In this manner, the cables in each cable tray are segregated from cables in other cable trays, thereby reducing the twisting of the cables.

Abstract: System and a method for recording a personal greeting associated with a pre-paid telephone calling card. The system and method include and involve a data storage system for storing data corresponding to a pre-paid telephone calling card and a personal greeting. Also included and involved is a pre-paid telephone calling card processing system that is coupled to the data storage system and which is configured to receive a request to record the personal greeting during a setup call over a telephone network and to cause the personal greeting to be recorded for subsequent playback. The pre-paid telephone calling card processing system is also configured to receive a request to make an outbound telephone call in relation to the pre-paid telephone calling card during an access call over the telephone network and to cause the personal greeting to be played back automatically during the access call.

Abstract: A communications manager in a telecommunications transaction server communicates service request messages and service response messages between one or more remotely executing service request processes and one or more service applications executing on the transaction server. A main thread in the communications manager monitors connections requests and initializes other threads. A unique logical communications connection is established between one of the service request processes and the communications manager. The communications manager creates both a read thread and a write thread for each logical communication connection that is validated and active. The read thread communicates service request messages from a service request process to an appropriate service application. The write thread communications service response messages from the service application to the service request process that issues the service request message.

Abstract: A method and device for preventing fraud in collect calls from a domestic origin point to an international terminating point through a long-distance telecommunications system is described. In the system and method, a Screening for International Calls database is added to the call processing platform. This Screening of International Calls database contains records keyed by country codes, and each record has a blocked collect call field listing destination numbers that are blocked from receiving collect calls. When a domestic-to-international collect call is made, the record corresponding to the country code of the international terminating point of the collect call is retrieved from the Screening for International Calls database. This record is checked to determine if the destination number of the collect call matches any destination numbers listed in the blocked collect call field of the country code database record. If there is a match, the call is blocked.

The web server manages a client session supports communication of request messages received from the browser to a network management resource. The client application is integrated for use within the browser, downloadable from the web server in accordance with a predetermined customer entitlement, and programmed to be in interactive communications with the network management resource.

Abstract: An approach provides for remote digital media ingest with centralized editorial. A remote ingest process is initiated over a data network to create a media file from a feed (such as a live broadcast feed). The media file is stored at a central repository. A device is configured to edit the media file by using a proxy file of the media file, wherein the proxy file represents a reduced file size of the media file.

Abstract: An approach for providing managed security services is disclosed. A database, within a server or a pre-existing anomalous event detection system, stores a rule set specifying a security policy for a network associated with a customer. An anomalous detection event module is deployed within a premise of the customer and retrieves rule sets from the database. The anomalous detection event module monitors a sub-network of the network based on the rule sets. The anomalous event detection module is further configured to self-organize by examining components of the network and to monitor for anomalous events according to the examined components, and to self-provision by selectively creating another instance of the anomalous detection event module to monitor another sub-network of the network.

Abstract: A data processing system program to develop, train, and implement a neural network for identifying customers who represent a bad debt risk is disclosed. A feature vector is applied to a neural network to generate outputs that approximate the relative likelihood that customers who are the subjects of the records used to generate the feature vector will be a bad debt risk. Statistical values relating categorical attributes of the customers to the likelihood of their becoming a bad debt risk are substituted for the categorical attributes, and the attributes are normalized before the feature vector is applied to the network. In one embodiment the customers are customers of a long distance service provider.

The control plane includes a virtual pool having a capacity corresponding to a resource capacity of the first router and an admission control function. In response to a request to reserve resources for a flow through the data plane from the input port to the output port, the admission control function performs admission control for the upstream link by reference to resource availability within the virtual pool.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system, method and software product for balancing resource services are always available to match the desired work to be done through the use of “sticky services.”. Sticky services are defined as services that you know you want to have available as resources and as such they need to be present in the environment of cooperative applications; it may be that you want these always present or it may be that you want them present whenever certain conditions occur (see NewWave policy service). The general assumption of distributed systems is to not count on the environment you want being present, or put another way assume failure will occur. Therefore distributed environments like Jini assume all services are transient and will be garbage collected when not in active use. For the inside out approach to work, a mechanism should exist that, when desired, counters the transit design assumptions.

Abstract: A method and system for providing quality of service in an IP telephony session between a calling party and a called party establishes a high quality of service ATM virtual circuit for the session between first and second devices, each of the devices having ATM capability and IP capability. The first and second devices provide bidirectional translation between IP media and ATM media. The system transports IP media for the session between the calling party and the first device, and between said called party and a second device. The virtual circuit transports ATM media for the session between the first and second devices. An intelligent control layer provides IP and ATM signaling to set up the session.
