  • Patent number: 10774641
Abstract: A load bearing support includes a cylindrical drum. A top portion, a bottom portion, a tapered cylindrical sidewall extends between the top and bottom portions. A core member extends between the top and bottom portions, and a load-bearing material is disposed between the sidewall and the core member. An opening extends through the top portion of the drum to receive load-bearing material. Each of the top portion and the bottom portions has a reinforcing chime. The core member includes a lateral transfer zone defined at one or more points along a vertical axis of the core member. The lateral transfer zone distributes an axial load on the drum to the cylindrical sidewall. The cylindrical sidewall provides a radial expansion area for compression of the core member and the load-bearing material.

  • Patent number: 8851804
Abstract: A support for use in mines and other underground workings is provided comprising a flexible inflatable bag configured for receiving a pumpable load-bearing material. A reinforcing material is provided for supporting the bag when the bag is filled with the load-bearing material. The reinforcing material can include reinforcing plates, rings, bands or barrels positioned about the outer periphery of the bag. Alternatively, the support can be formed from a plurality of stackable barrels that are filled with load-bearing material but without the inflatable bag. The barrels can include internal reinforcing or cladding material at spaced locations along the barrels to define controlled deflection zones. According to another design, the support can be designed to be extensible. The support is inexpensive to transport, can be erected on-site and has a reinforced structure with residual yield strength. A method for supporting a mine or other underground workings is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8801338
Abstract: This invention is directed to a mine roof support set including a plurality of nested containers. Each container in the set has a progressively smaller cross-sectional dimension to allow the containers to be nested one within the other. The plurality of containers can be nested during transportation of the mine roof support set to a mine site. The containers can be separated at the mine site and filled with a load-bearing material. The containers filled with the load-bearing material are placed with their longitudinal axis between a mine roof and a mine floor.

  • Publication number: 20100108746
Abstract: Package comprising a substantially cylindrical part (5), which has a bottom (3) at one end and at the other end is formed in one part with an essentially truncated cone-shaped, tapering part (6), which in the narrowest end has a closable spout (4), said cylindrical and tapering part (5,6) are formed by folding a mainly rectangular, sheet-shaped body (7) made of laminate with a plastic coating and welded together by overlapping end parts, whereby the tapering part (6) is achieved by forming and folding a number of overlapping folds, where each fold in circumferential direction has an area expanding in direction of the narrowest end. The rectangular, sheet-shaped body includes inclined cut corners (15, 16) at the end, which forms the narrowest end after folding, said corners being cut so that the tapering part (6) includes three folded layers as a maximum.

  • Publication number: 20090109114
Abstract: An antenna structure includes a first tubing module, a second tubing module, an insulating tubing, a coaxial cable, an insulating tube and a base. Both ends of the insulating tubing are connected with the first and second tubing modules respectively. An interval is maintained between two corresponding ends connected with the tubing modules. The first tubing module is connected to the insulating tube, and the insulating tube is connected the base. The coaxial cable includes a central conductor and a metal conducting mesh, and the central conductor is connected the second tubing module, and the second tubing module is connected to a terminal inside the base. The metal conducting mesh is connected to the first tubing module, and the first tubing module is connected the base, so that the antenna structure can be operated at a specific frequency range and gives a better gain.

  • Patent number: 7503752
Abstract: The invention relates to a wind turbine blade comprising a number of pre-fabricated strips arranged in a sequence along the outer periphery. The strips consist of a fibrous composite material, preferably carbon fibers, and consist of a wooden material, preferably plywood or wooden fibers held in a cured resin. The advantage is that it is possible to manufacture blades for wind turbines which are very stiff and generally have a high strength, but which nevertheless are easy to manufacture and also is much cheaper to manufacture compared to conventional manufacturing techniques. The invention also relates to methods for manufacturing prefabricated strips and for manufacturing wind turbine blades.
