  • Patent number: 4571069
Abstract: A recording apparatus has a printer mechanism for printing images successively on sheets of copying paper, and an image control circuit for delivering image information controllably to the printer mechanism so as to enable the latter to print the images successively. The image control circuit includes a plurality of page memories each for storing image information per single page, a first changeover switch for writing image information selectively into the page memories, and a second changeover switch for reading image information selectively from the page memories. When a sheet of copying paper is jammed in the printer mechanism, a microcomputer system controls the second changeover switch to select a switching mode to read an item of image information out of one of the page memories which stores the item of information to be printed on the jammed sheet of copying paper, for thereby allowing the image to be printed in a shorter period of time after paper jam clearance.

  • Patent number: 4515465
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus includes a paper jam detector for producing a jamming signal in response to detection of a paper jam, an emergency stopping device for stopping the copying process in response to the paper jamming signal, and a manually operable release switch for actuation after the paper jam has been cleared to release the stopping action of the emergency stopping means. A preparatory driving device, responsive to the releasing of the stopping action of the emergency stopping device by the operation of the release switch, energizes the main motor of the copying apparatus to move the photosensitive member of the apparatus through at least one rotation. A cleaning device, also responsive to releasing of the stopping action of the emergency stopping device by the operation of the release switch, cleans the photosensitive member during that rotation to assure that the photosensitive member is clean after the jam is cleared and before the next copying cycle.

  • Patent number: 4502779
Abstract: A cleaning device for use in an electrostatic copying machine removes with a blade any residual toner from a photosensitive body after a toner image has been transferred therefrom to a sheet of copying paper. A support shaft supports the blade for slidable contact with the photosensitive body and has a horizontal axis extending perpendicularly to a direction of travel of the photosensitive body. The support shaft is angularly movable about the axis and is axially movable. A rotational shaft is rotatable about an axis parallel to the support shaft. A first device converts rotational movement of the rotational shaft into reciprocal movement along the axis of the support shaft. A second device converts rotational movement of the rotational shaft into reciprocal angular movement of the support shaft. A third device releases interconnection between the rotational shaft and the first and second devices.

  • Patent number: 4468111
Abstract: An electrostatic copying machine apparatus includes a developing device having a fixedly positioned permanent magnet and a hollow developing sleeve formed of a non-magnetic material mounted coaxially about the permanent magnet for rotation thereabout. Toner supplied to the periphery of the sleeve forms thereon a magnetic brush which is conveyed by rotation of the sleeve to a developing position whereat the toner is transferred to a photoreceptor as a visible toner image. A bristle cutting member is positioned upstream of the developing position to restrict the length of the magnetic brush. A blade member formed of a non-magnetizable material prevents solidification of the toner on the periphery of the sleeve and is positioned upstream of the bristle cutting member. The blade member slides in contact with the periphery of the sleeve at a scraping position. The permanent magnet has spaced therearound at equal circumferential intervals a plurality of magnetizing positions having magnetic poles.
