  • Publication number: 20150293314
Abstract: A cable used in high speed applications contains four internal cables with two wire pairs in each cable. The internal cables are protected by only a conductive braided shield and are arranged in the cable adjacent each other. At least four non-conductive blanks are disposed in the gaps which occur between adjacent ones of the internal cables. The blanks serve to prevent the cable outer insulation from sagging into the gaps between the internal cables so that the cable has a substantially circular configuration.

  • Publication number: 20150295394
Abstract: An improved cable breakout assembly is disclosed for use with a trunk cable and multiple breakout wires, or cables exiting from the trunk cable. A protective housing has a series of cable cradles, each of which accommodates a cable or wire in the cable transition area. The cable cradles have inwardly facing stop surfaces and stop members are applied to the exterior surfaces of the cables proximate to the cable cradles. The stop members encircle the cables and define a shoulder or stop surface in opposition to the stop surfaces of the cable cradles. The two stop surfaces confront each other and prevent movement of the cables out of the housing, so to provide an integrated strain relief to the cable transition area.

  • Publication number: 20150245466
Abstract: A paddle card construction disclosed for use in connecting electronic devices together. The paddle card takes the form of a circuit board that has a plurality of conductive contact pads arranged thereon in pairs. The contact pads of each pair are spaced apart from each other to provide a pair of points to which cable wire free ends may be terminated, such as by soldering. The spacing of the pads apart from each other in effect reduces to amount of capacitance in the cable wire termination area on the circuit board, thereby reducing the impedance and insertion loss in that area at high frequencies. The contact pads of each pair may be further interconnected together by a thin, conductive trace that extends lengthwise between the contact pads.
