Abstract: A method for communicating end-to-end encrypted super group information is provided. Temporary address data, which identifies a temporary address on which the super group is to communicate, is transmitted from a gateway to a back-to-back communications device using a direct mode or data message. The back-to-back communications device retrieves an encryption key associated with the temporary address and uses the encryption key to decrypt super group information sent from a networked communications device on the temporary address. The back-to-back communications reverts back to its original encryption key when super group communications are terminated.

Abstract: A file that is compatible with a media player application that reads media files compliant with MP4, is created by including in the file a parent container containing child containers. The child containers include a metadata container containing metadata relating to the media presentation and a media data container containing media samples for multiple tracks of the media presentation. The metadata container contains multiple child containers containing metadata for the multiple tracks respectively. The metadata container contains at least one additional child container that reserves free space in the metadata container but does not contain metadata, whereby in the event of adding a track to the presentation the free space in the additional child container may be overwritten with metadata for the added track without affecting the size of the metadata container.

Abstract: During operation, the choice of the initial ranging code (sometimes referred to as a ranging preamble code, or a random-access preamble) at the mobile station is associated with a PMI feedback to be signaled to the base station during the initial ranging. More particularly, during initial system access a ranging code is transmitted by the mobile station to the base station. The mobile station chooses one of the available ranging codes based on the channel conditions and associates the ranging code with channel feedback information. The ranging code is then transmitted to the base station, and provides the base station with the channel feedback information.

The method includes receiving, by a proxy server associated with a called communication device, an invitation for each incoming call directed to the called communication device. The method also includes determining, by the proxy server upon receipt of each invitation, the availability of the called communication device by suspending transmission of each invitation and by sending to the called communication device an associated call initiation message for each invitation. The associated call initiation message is free of a Session Description Payload (SDP). The method further includes receiving, by the proxy server, at least one answer message from the called communication device, each answer message being associated with a selected incoming call.

  • Publication number: 20120149421
Abstract: A mobile device registers with an infrastructure device coupled to a first communication network and then sends a request to activate PTT service in the first communication network. A communication server is adapted to receive the request to activate the PTT service, and to, thereby, activate the PTT service for the mobile device in the first communication network. Responsive to receiving the request to activate the PTT service, the communication server makes a determination to register the mobile device with a second communication network, generates a service registration message, on behalf of the mobile device, to register the mobile device with the second communication network, and sends the service registration message to the second communication network.

Abstract: A key message can include a key-encryption-key (KEK) associated with a KeyDomainID and a KeyGroupID. A session description message can describe streaming media initialization parameters containing media stream information for one or more media streams. For each media stream, the media stream information can include an IP address and a data port. The session description message can further contain a linkage for binding the KEK to a corresponding one of the media streams. The linkage can include the KeyDomainID and KeyGroupID or can include an abstract representation of the KeyDomainID and KeyGroupID. During session initialization, the key-encryption-key (KEK) can be bound to the media streams using the linkage of the session description message. Each of the media streams can be secured using a traffic key conveyed to user equipment (UE) under protection of the key-encryption-key (KEK).

Abstract: An antenna system includes a multi-port antenna with an active feeding network coupled thereto. The active feeding network applies complex weights to signals received from and transmitted to each port of the multi-port antenna. The complex weights are applied according to eigenvectors corresponding to a Hermitian matrix representation of the multi-port antenna. The Hermitian matrix may be base on such multi-port antenna parameters such as power dissipation, power radiation, real-power flow, volumetric storage of electromagnetic energy, and/or volumetric dissipation of electromagnetic energy. The multi-port antenna yields orthogonal electromagnetic fields in volumes or surfaces of interest in response to the active feeding network excitation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a subset voice stream associated with a subset talk group. A voice communication device receives a session identifier from an associated data communication device engaged. The voice communication device transforms the session identifier into a session key identifier, obtains an encryption algorithm implementing a subset talk group filtering feature and a voice encryption key identifier, and combines the session key identifier with the voice encryption key identifier to generate a signaling key identifier. The voice communication device associates the signaling key identifier and an encryption algorithm identifier with the subset voice stream during transmission of the subset voice stream to a receiving voice communication device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for increasing calling capacity in a carrier using enhanced Terrestrial Trunk Radio (TETRA) protocols. The method includes transmitting, by a base station to at least one mobile station, a permission signal for an assigned timeslot on a carrier, wherein each timeslot is divided into at least two sub-slots. The method also includes configuring a control signal that is associated with each of the plurality of timeslots. Specific fields in the control signal are associated with each sub-slot on each of the plurality of timeslots. The method further includes providing usage markers through the control signal. Usage markers values are divided into ranges, each range used to identify a timeslot or a sub-slot assignment on the carrier. The base station sends a time advance value to the mobile station to indicate when transmission from the mobile station is to begin.
