Abstract: The present invention relates to a configuration and a method for localizing the geographic position of a person. The localization configuration comprises a transmission unit (5, 6, 7) connectable to the person, as well as a reception unit (1) for displaying the location of the person. The present invention is distinguished in that the transmission unit (5, 6, 7) comprises a GPS receiver and is connectable via wireless communication to the reception unit (1). The present invention allows both high precision in localization and also position ascertainment over great distances. The method and the cost-effectively producible device may also be used by lay people easily.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a navigation apparatus and a method for outputting navigation instructions. The navigation apparatus comprises a navigation unit (2), a position determination apparatus, a processor apparatus having an operating memory, a mass memory apparatus for receiving a data bank, a display apparatus, an operating element configuration, a sound output apparatus, and navigation software. The present invention is distinguished in that the display apparatus and operating element configuration are situated separately in a mobile multimedia playback device (1). The present invention allows a combination of the two separate device and service species “navigation” and “personal multimedia” by expanding the area of use of multimedia playback devices and associated provider services to the field of navigation. The operating interface familiar to the user and the familiar access to the data and services of the service provider are also maintained for the new area of application of navigation.
Abstract: A method for the automatic, computer-assisted determination of a route travelable by motor vehicles from a starting point to a destination point based on digitalized map data, wherein a computer acquires a starting point and destination point, and determines the route based on possible road segments, is expanded in such a way that the automatically generated routes have a high recreational value. To this end, it is proposed that the computer determining the route preferably incorporate those road segments into the route that exhibit a high number of curves.
