  • Publication number: 20120257529
Abstract: A computer system according to the present invention has: a switch configured to forward a received packet data to a destination in accordance with flow that is set in the switch; and a controller configured to set flow with respect to the switch, in response to first-packet receipt notification from the switch. The switch transmits the first-packet receipt notification to the controller and notifies the controller of a port number included in the received packet data. The controller obtains, from a server, an application name of an application using the port number and records, on a memory device, a correspondence relationship between the application name and the flow that is set with respect to the switch. It is thus possible to monitor statistical information with respect to each application, without being affected by a method of allocating port numbers to applications.

  • Patent number: 8278120
Abstract: The present invention provides: a method of changing the fluorescence wavelength of a GFP-like fluorescent protein from copepod while maintaining recombinant expression efficiency, which comprises identifying a structural factor for determining the fluorescence wavelength thereof in the three-dimensional structure of the protein and modifying amino acid residues associated with the structural factor; and a modified fluorescent protein obtained by applying said method. For example, with regard to a GFP-like fluorescent protein from Chiridius poppei, His52 in an ? helix-like secondary structure: PFLLSHCMGYGFYHF (?1 47-61) comprising a fluorescent moiety site GYG is replaced with an aromatic amino acid selected from Phe, Tyr and Trp, so as to cause a red shift of the fluorescent peak wavelength; or it is replaced with Ala, Val, Ile, Leu, Gly, Cys, Met, Ser, Thr, or Asp, Asn, Glu or Gln, so as to cause a blue shift of the fluorescence peak wavelength.

Abstract: The technique by which simple analysis of an intended subject to be analyzed can be carried out is provided. In this technique, a nucleic acid element 16 for use in analysis including: a first nucleic acid part 12; and a second nucleic acid part 13 is used. In the nucleic acid element 16, the first nucleic acid part 12 is a binding part that can bind to a subject 11 to be analyzed, and the second nucleic acid part 13 is a labeling part that can distinguish between binding and non-binding of the first nucleic acid part 12 to the subject 11. It is preferred that the first nucleic acid part 12 is an aptamer against the subject 11. The subject 11 can be analyzed easily by using the nucleic acid element 16, binding the subject 11 to the first nucleic acid part 12, and then analyzing the binding with the second nucleic acid part 13.

  • Patent number: 8203032
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for generation of a transformed plant capable of emitting fluorescence by introducing a gene encoding a non-plant-derived fluorescent protein into a plant such that the fluorescent protein is recombinantly expressed in the active form of its mature protein in the leaf or petal of the plant, and also provides a transformed garden plant capable of emitting fluorescence that is generated by using the process. For example, cDNA encoding the full-length amino acid sequence of a Chiridius poppei-derived fluorescent protein CpYGFP or its H52F modified protein CpYGFP H52F is inserted into a T-DNA-based expression vector system, which is in turn introduced into the chromosomal DNA of a plant. As a result, the transformed plant thus generated can exhibit fluorescence attributed to these fluorescent proteins and exhibit no substantial difference in the other phenotypes from wild-type one of the plant.

  • Patent number: 8090523
Abstract: Disclosed is a travel-time prediction apparatus that is capable of making a mid-term prediction of travel time accurately by combining present conditions and statistical information. The apparatus includes a travel-time transition pattern database storing travel-time transition patterns obtained by statistically processing past time-series data of each road link according to type of data. Upon accepting a travel-time transition pattern corresponding to a specified link and day type from the database, the apparatus calculates conversion parameters of a travel-time transition pattern for which an error between the travel-time transition pattern and a sequentially input travel-time time-series data will be reduced, and then makes a prediction using a prediction function obtained by converting the travel-time transition pattern by the calculated conversion parameters. The calculated predicted value and the conversion parameters are distributed as traffic information.
