Abstract: A control device for an electronic aerosol provision system is provided. The control device is configured to receive a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol provision system. The control device includes a communication interface for performing communications external to the electronic aerosol provision system; a memory configured to hold a set of stored identifiers; and a control system. The control system is configured to: receive control information from a remote server via the communication interface; update the set of stored identifiers based on the control information received from the remote server; receive an identifier from a replaceable component received by the control device; make a comparison of the received identifier against the set of stored identifiers; and perform a control action for the electronic aerosol provision system dependent upon the result of said comparison.

The method includes sensing, at a first sensor of a sensor arrangement, a first indicia of an article including aerosolizable medium; sensing, at a second sensor of the sensor arrangement spaced a predetermined distance from the first sensor, a second indicia of the article; determining a distance between the first indicia and the second indicia; and operating the aerosol generating apparatus based at least on the distance between the first indicia and the second indicia.

Abstract: A mouthpiece for an apparatus for generating an inhalable medium is disclosed. The mouthpiece defines an aperture extending from a first opening at a first end of the mouthpiece to a second opening at an opposing end of the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is arranged to receive in the aperture through the first opening a flavor element for imparting a flavor to a flow of at least one of a vapor and an aerosol that passes through the mouthpiece in use. The aperture has a first radial dimension towards the first opening, and a second radial dimension towards the second opening, wherein the second radial dimension is smaller than the first radial dimension.
