A first housing module, which carries the data processing unit and possibly the operating means, includes a first connection interface, by which a respective second housing module, which carries the respective display device, can selectively be attached to the first housing module. The data processing unit in the first housing module advantageously has a detection device for self-detection of the respectively connected electronic components in or on the respectively attached further housing modules.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic gaming machine having a game server to which a gaming apparatus can be connected, wherein the game server has a ticket block including a plurality of electronic game tickets which are each individually characterized by a winning number combination, wherein the gaming apparatus can be connected to a credit store associated with it which can be loaded by an input apparatus and including a ticket purchasing apparatus for purchasing a game ticket while reducing the credit stored in the credit store. Abstract: The invention relates to a method for initializing a desired game in an electronic gaming machine, in which a predefined fee has to be paid in order to play the game and the events of the game are displayed on a screen. According to the invention the player is offered the following alternatives a) he can decline the offer of a preliminary game which is played before the desired game, or b) he can play this preliminary game, if he declines the preliminary game, the main game is played with predefined chances of winning and predefined win amounts, when the preliminary game, which permits only a win or a loss—i.e. without setting or paying a win amount—, is selected and after it is played, the win or loss of the preliminary game is established, the main game is played when the preliminary game is won, and, when the preliminary game is lost, game play is ended, the money inserted is lost, and the gaming machine may offer the player the stated alternatives again.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for sorting coins and the like having a chute which has at least one inlet and a plurality of outlets. The chute has at least two flat side outlets which are arranged one above the other in the falling direction through the chute with a respective shunt being associated with the flat side outlets. The chute advantageously has two oppositely disposed wide flat sides and two oppositely disposed narrow sides. The wide flat sides are disposed opposite the wide flat sides of a coin. The coins are accordingly channeled away transversely to their flat sides via the flat side outlets. The plurality of flat side outlets arranged above one another have the great advantage in this respect that the coin sorting body can be made in particularly compact form. In addition, the small required switch paths permit very short switch times of the shunts.

Abstract: An innovative approach to displaying gaming machine events and advertising for a gaming console is provided by replacing the commonly-used tower light with an integrated set of game and machine event indicators. The tower light may be used to display the actual game being played or, for example, the price of the game, and can be made of transparent material with separate indicator sections conveying game machine events and related information. The tower light is preferably controlled by a controller unit, with LED lights to light up the indicators.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an air cleaner for the removal of pollutants from an air flow by a filter module, the filter module of which comprises at least one permeable filter layer for the accumulation of pollutants on the filter layer. According to the invention, a bypass channel will be provided and established such that part of the unfiltered air flow may bypass any filter layer. Surprisingly, such a bypass channel does hardly compromise the cleaning effect of the filter module, at least as long as the filter layer has not yet been clogged with pollutants since in this case the biggest part of the air flow will take the major path through the filter layer due to lack of resistance. Only if the filter layer is clogged and if resistance for the air flow increases, air will obviously flow through the mentioned bypass channel.
