Abstract: A protective case for an electronic device having a camera and a flash. The protective case includes a lens having a first lens portion and a second lens portion. The first lens portion includes a first optically transparent region configured to be positioned proximate the camera when the electronic device is installed in the protective case. The first lens having a top surface, a bottom surface opposite the top surface, and a side surface. The side surface is at least partially coated with a light-blocking ink. The second lens portion includes a second optically transparent region configured to be positioned proximate the flash of the installed electronic device.

Abstract: A protective cover for use with an electronic device includes a protective shell, an electrical connector, and an inductive coil. The protective shell is configured to receive the electronic device and includes one or more apertures configured for accessing one or more respective features of the installed electronic device. The electrical connector is affixed to an interior surface of the protective shell and configured to engage electrical contacts of the installed electronic device. The inductive coil is disposed within the protective shell and is electrically connected to the electrical connector of the protective shell. The inductive coil is configured for producing an electrical current in response to a magnetic field generated by an external device in proximity to the protective shell.

Abstract: A protective case includes a shell for receiving and at least partially covering an electronic device. The shell includes a first material and has a back portion and side portions extending from the back portion. The back portion is configured to be adjacent to the back surface of the electronic device when the electronic device is installed. The case also includes a core comprising a second material having a magnetic permeability substantially greater than a magnetic permeability of the first material. The core is affixed to the back portion of the shell at a location that coincides with a center region of the wireless charging coil of the wireless charging circuitry of the installed electronic device. The core increases magnetic coupling between the wireless charging coil of the installed electronic device and a source charging coil when the protective case is placed in proximity to the source charging coil.
Abstract: A protective enclosure for an electronic device includes a first case portion that may be adapted to surround at least a portion of a top device portion and a second case portion that may be adapted to surround at least a portion of a bottom device portion. The protective enclosure may also include a first hinge member coupled to a portion of the first case portion and a portion of the second case portion, and the first hinge member may pivot about a first hinge axis that is coaxially aligned with or parallel to a device hinge axis.

Abstract: A charging apparatus for charging a portable electronic device includes a receiving area, two coil pairs, and coil control circuitry. The receiving area is configured to removably receive the portable electronic device and/or a case for a portable electronic device. The two coil pairs are positioned around a perimeter of the receiving area of the charging apparatus. Each coil pair includes first and second electrically conductive coils. The second electrically conductive coil is opposite the first electrically conductive coil on the perimeter of the receiving area and the ends of each electrically conductive coil including electrical leads. The coil control circuitry is electrically connected to each electrically conductive coil. The coil control circuitry is configured to selectively provide a charging current to at least one of the coil pairs to induce a magnetic field around the electrically conductive coils for inductively charging the portable electronic device.

Abstract: A case for protecting a portable electronic device includes a first member, a second member, and a flexible hinge member. The first member is removably attachable to a first portion of the portable electronic device for covering an outer surface of the first portion of the portable electronic device while not covering a display screen area of the portable electronic device. The second member of the case is removably attachable to a second portion of the portable electronic device for covering the outer surface of the second portion of the portable electronic device while not covering the display. The flexible hinge member is in proximity to a hinging portion of the portable electronic device when the case is attached. The flexible hinge member permits articulation of the portable electronic device when the case is attached to the portable electronic device due to flexing of a flexible material.
