Abstract: Pultruded fiber reinforced polymer composite is disclosed, having a blend of conventional pultrusion resins and a rigidsol. The replacement of some of the conventional pultrusion resin with the rigidsol does not adversely affect mechanical properties but does enhance affinity of the pultruded part to a polyvinyl chloride-containing capstock.

The high vinyl styrene-(ethylene/butylene)-styrene block copolymer has a Copolymer Tan Delta Peak Temperature and the thermoplastic elastomer compound has a Compound Tan Delta Peak Temperature. The Compound Tan Delta Peak Temperature is greater than the Copolymer Tan Delta Peak Temperature. The thermoplastic elastomer compound exhibits useful damping properties at or above room temperature while also advantageously possessing improved stability for processing and/or applications at high temperatures and upon exposure to weathering.
Abstract: An article is formed from a thermoplastic elastomer compound that includes styrenic block copolymer and high softening point tackifier. The styrenic block copolymer has a Copolymer Tan Delta Peak Temperature and the thermoplastic elastomer compound has a Compound Tan Delta Peak Temperature. The Compound Tan Delta Peak Temperature is greater than the Copolymer Tan Delta Peak Temperature. The article exhibits useful damping properties at or above room temperature while also exhibiting low compression set, which makes the article especially suitable for use as a seal or a gasket.

The sound damping article exhibits useful vibration damping properties while also exhibiting beneficial sound and/or noise damping properties at or above room temperature.
Abstract: Nitrocellulose is plasticized with epoxidized fatty acid esters, such as epoxidized alkyl soyates. Nail varnish can be made from the plasticized nitrocellulose.
Abstract: A nylon compound is disclosed having good through plane thermal conductivity and improved physical strength. The compound comprises a combination of nylon, graphite, and long glass fibers. The through plane thermal conductivity of the compound ranges from about 1 W/m·K to about 4 W/m·K, as measured by the C-Therm Test described herein. This nylon compound is also electrically conductive, preferably having a surface resistivity ranging from about 1×103 Ohm/sq to about 1×105 Ohm/sq as measured by IEC 60093.

Abstract: A composite laminate is made by providing at least a first composite ply and a second composite ply, each having longitudinally oriented fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The second composite ply is disposed on, and in transverse relation to, the first composite ply. Preferably, the second ply is disposed at 90° relative to the first ply. An article can be manufactured by providing a core material and applying a reinforcing material to a portion of the core material. The reinforcing material is a reinforcing composite ply or a composite laminate as described herein. Optionally, the core material is a prepreg that may be a composite laminate.
Abstract: Aliphatic polyimides are synthesized by a 2:1 molar ratio reaction of an unsaturated monoanhydride or an unsaturated diacid with a diamine. Bio-derived monomers are particularly useful in the synthesis of the aliphatic polyimides.
Abstract: A method and system for oxygen molecule scavenging is disclosed. The system employs as a novel copolymer as the reducing agent for oxygen molecules. The copolymer is the polymerization product of cyclic aliphatic monomer and unsaturated functional polymer.
Abstract: Cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) and cyclic olefin polymer (COP) are useful as support material for 3D printing of high temperature polymers, such as polyimides.
Abstract: A completely non-halogenated flame retardant polycarbonate compound includes polycarbonate, non-halogenated termini-functional chemical such as vinyl-terminated siloxane and non-halogenated hydride-functional polysiloxane as non-halogenated drip suppressant ingredients which react in the presence of heat to form a drip suppressant adduct, and potassium 3-(phenylsulfonyl)benzenesulfonate as a non-halogenated char former. The compound can achieve a UL 94 rating of V-0 at a thickness of at least 3.2 mm and otherwise achieves no dripping/igniting of the cotton indicator during that test.

Abstract: Migratory assisting agents are used to improve antimicrobial efficacy of antimicrobial masterbatches, the polymer compounds these antimicrobial masterbatches are let down into, and the articles made therefrom. The migratory assisting agents function by carrying the antimicrobial agents while the migratory assisting agent transfers or “migrates” to the surface of a polymer compound or article formed from the polymer compound. As a result, antimicrobial agents are brought to the surface where there is exposure to bacterial contamination.
