Patents Assigned to Pyrotek, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6497559
Abstract: Disclosed is a molten metal submersible pump system which includes a unitized body which acts as its own jig during assembly to precisely align the motor mount framework, the pump body, the pump base, and the pump shaft. Further disclosed is such a pump system which provides greater than normal surface area and heat sink mass, which has resulted in an increased useful life of the pump system between required maintenance and replacement of parts.

  • Patent number: 6270717
Abstract: There is provided a filtration and distribution device for a molten metal, which is in the form of a bag having parts made of a solid heat-resistant fabric and open areas made of an open weave heat-resistant fabric. At least some of the parts made of the solid heat-resistant fabric are replaced by rigid parts made of a moldable or thermo-formable composite consisting of an open weave heat-resistant fabric embedded into a matrix made of a heat-resistant inorganic material compatible with the open weave heat-resistant fabric. Preferably, the open weave heat-resistant fabric forming the open areas of the bag, is made of yarns that are rigidified and protected by application thereto of a heat-resistant coating. This coating is preferably made of a heat-resistant inorganic material applied by spraying or dipping after the yarns are weaved. The rigidification can be achieved naturally or by thermal treatment.

  • Patent number: 5718416
Abstract: Disclosed is a dome lid and a containment vessel for use in combination with a molten metal refinement system for the refinement and purification of molten metal by degassification. Further disclosed is an apparatus for refining molten metal, which includes a molten metal refinement system in combination with a containment vessel having a molten metal inlet, a molten metal outlet, a lower section which includes one or more metal refinement compartments and an upper section which includes an elevated ceiling, inwardly sloped outer walls and access ports in the sloped outer walls. The molten metal particularly includes aluminum.

  • Patent number: 5425410
Abstract: The sprue/riser sleeve 40 has a tubular, preferably cylindrical wall 42 extending between an inlet end 48 and an outlet end 50. The sleeve 40 has a woven mesh filter extending across a central passageway 51 with a periphery 54 of the filter 52 embedded into the wall 42. The periphery 54 has three or more, evenly spaced tabs 56 formed thereon that project further into or through the wall to secure the filter to the wall without materially weakening the wall. Preferably, the filter has a square-shaped periphery 54 with corners 64 that define the tabs 56. The main portion of the periphery extends into the wall less that one-half the thickness of the wall, whereas the tabs extend into the wall a distance greater than one-half the thickness.

  • Patent number: 5383651
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment of this invention as illustrated in the accompanying drawings in FIGS. 5 and 6, an annealing tray coil support pad 24 is formed of a woven cloth high temperature resistant fabric layer 26 and a similar bottom layer 28. The woven cloth is made of high tensile strength fibers. An intermediate layer 34 composed of a high density matted fiberboard insulative material of a thickness of between 0.75 inches and 3 inches is positioned between the top layer 26 and the bottom layer 28 for providing sufficient support to aluminum sheet coil 10 to minimize its peripheral deformation while the coil is being processed through one or more annealing furnaces. Pad 24 substantially reduces the amount of deformation and therefore the amount of waste material from each aluminum sheet coil 10.
