  • Patent number: 7452261
Abstract: A process for monitoring the correct setting of the coolant nozzle (9) of a grinding machine for grinding the tooth flanks of workpieces with premachined teeth. In an automatic test cycle after setting the machine, with the grinding wheel (2) at defined positions relative to the workpiece (3), the alterations in power consumption of the grinding spindle drive when switching on the coolant supply are measured, compared with the desired value ranges specified in the machine control system, and the machining process blocked in the event of measurements being below or above the desired value ranges. In this manner the production of scrap and the occurrence of deflagration of the coolant/lubricant-air mixture in the machine working area, and hence a machine fire, can be effectively prevented.

  • Patent number: 7121930
Abstract: A rotating dressing tool (2) coated with abrasive grains for profiling a multi-start grinding worm (4) for the continuous generation grinding of preferably small moduled gear teeth is provided with a stripping zone (6), a pre-profiling zone (7) and a finish profiling zone (8). After being swivelled into their dressing position about a swivel axis (F) at right angles to the axis of rotation of the dressing tool, the profiling zones are brought one after the other into engagement with the grinding worm (4). • Patent number: 7020972
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the aligning of the tooth spaces of workpieces (1) with precut teeth, which are set up for fine machining on the work spindle (2) of a gear finishing machine. In order to avoid the trend related occurrence of out-of-tolerance aligning errors as series production progresses, teach-in cycles are performed on the workpiece machined in the immediately preceding machining cycle, called for automatically after time intervals or machining cycle intervals which are either pre-defined or calculated by the machine control system. By this means any prevailing trend errors are restored to zero.

  • Patent number: 7018278
Abstract: A detachable fixture of a rotary machining tool (3) on the tool spindle (2) of a machine tool and in particular of a grinding wheel flange (4) on the spindle nose (1) of a grinding spindle (2) is provided with two clamping rings. By means of the Cardanic located clamping rings (10, 13), the clamping force F generated by turning a clamping screw (7) is distributed uniformly on the spindle flange (6). The tool fixture according to the invention permits even large and heavy driven tools with high demands on stiffness and repeatability with respect to radial and axial runout and quality of balance to be changed with little time expenditure.

  • Patent number: 7013744
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for the non-contact measurement of the position of the teeth (13) of a workpiece (14) with precut teeth on a gear finishing machine. The measuring probe, retractable from the measuring position into a position of rest protected against soiling, is arranged in a holder (5) for radial and axial adjustment relative to the workpiece, the said holder (5) being a kinematic member of a parallelogram linkage (A) and by means of a hydraulic, pneumatic or electromechanical swivel drive (11) is swivellable from stop to stop between measuring position and position of rest in a plane containing the workpiece axis, such that in the advancement action from the lower end position to the top end position motions of the measuring probe (1) tangential to the workpiece circumference are completely avoided. The parallelogram kinematics moreover afford adequate protection against swarf and grinding dust, and lends the device a high stiffness and reliability.

  • Publication number: 20050239385
Abstract: In a process for the profiling of a grinding worm (1) with at least two grinding width zones (4, 6) with differently modified thread profile for the grinding of spur and helical gears with three-dimensionally modified flank profile, the grinding width zones (4, 6) are arranged overlapping in order to gain optimum exploitation of the grinding worm width (3). In one variant, profiling of the grinding worm (1) is performed with an abrasive coated profiling gear (25) with a tooth flank geometry and facewidth differing from that of the workpiece to be ground. By suitable selection of the diagonal ratio and the allocation of the width zones (28, 29) of the profiling gear (25) to the grinding width zones (4, 6) of the grinding worm (1), it is possible to adapt the modifications of the grinding worm flanks to the requirements of the workpiece without having to alter the flank geometry of the profiling gear (25).

  • Publication number: 20050186886
Abstract: In a process and a device for the aligning of the tooth spaces of a workpiece with precut teeth, which is set up on the work spindle of a gear finishing machine, the workpiece (1) is brought into no-backlash double flank mesh with a pilot gear (6). The workpiece (1) is rotated, and during this rotation both the angular position of the tooth space centre lines of the pilot gear (6) and the centre distance between the pilot gear (6) and the workpiece (1) are measured. This allows the workpiece (1) to be tested with respect to radial run-out, flank material allowance, helix angle, and any possible irregularities.

  • Patent number: 6869342
Abstract: A dressing apparatus (20) attached to a dressing pedestal (25) of a tooth flank grinding machine is maneuverable by means of an advancer device (27) from a dust proof position of rest aside of the dressing position into an optimum dressing position lying between work spindle (3) and grinding worm (11). Here it can be clamped to the bed with high precision and rigidity. After dressing, it is maneuverable back to the position of rest, in which it hinders neither the grinding process nor the workpiece setting up process.

  • Patent number: 6842954
Abstract: The invention concerns a machine for the chip-forming machining and the measurement of gears and screw-type workpieces. Arranged on a swivel head (6) swivellable about an axis (A) at right angles to the rotary axis of the workpiece (4) are functional units (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) with machining and measuring tools (10, 12, 14, 15, 17) which are displaceable radially and parallel relative to the swivel axis (A), which said tools can be brought consecutively into engagement with the workpiece (4), thus making possible the application of different tools (10, 12, 14, 15, 17) and machining techniques in the same work set-up without colliding. The work spindle (1) is driven by electric motor either directly or via a gear unit.

  • Patent number: 6805617
Abstract: The process describes how transmission gears (6) can be manufactured in a highly economical and highly precise manner. In one single mounting, the complete hard fine-machining on all of the most important functional surfaces of the workpiece is conducted simultaneously. This multi-process is made possible through the combined use of a continuous generating grinding process for the machining of gearing, a known method for the machining of the boring and possibly of a frontal surface, and the fixing of workpieces (6) on form elements such as chamfers or plane surfaces by means of centering elements (9, 10) which are designed in such a way that they do not block the free access of the individual tools (5, 11, 28) to the surfaces (7, 8, 27) to be machined.

  • Patent number: 6752695
Abstract: In the continuous generation grinding of a gear the modifications of tooth trace contours and/or corrections of tooth trace deviations determined by flank measurement are specified separately for the left and right flanks (3, 4) of the gear (1). By means of these data, supplementary motions of the NC machine axes across the face width of the left flank (3) and the right flank (4) of the gear (1) are calculated in a control system of a gear flank grinding machine, by means of which a grinding worm produces the specified modified or deviation corrected tooth traces on the left flanks (3) and the right flanks (4) of the gear (1) in one and the same grinding stroke.
