Publication number: 20140161034Abstract: A first carrier of a carrier aggregation system has a downlink control region DCR which is selectively enabled and disabled. For the case the DCR of the first carrier is disabled, a DCR of a second carrier is used to cross-schedule a user equipment for radio resources on the first carrier. In various embodiments: the DCR of the first carrier lies within an unlicensed radio frequency band; the DCR of the first carrier is disabled by signaling which reduces to zero a number of symbols reserved for the DCR and is enabled by signaling which increases from zero a number of symbols reserved for the DCR; the signaling is downlink and group-based to a plurality of user equipments. The group-based signaling may be a broadcast system information block or a group RNTI, either of which give frequency information of the DCR and an enabled/disabled status indication.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2011Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: RENESAS MOBILE CORPORATIONInventors: Jing Han, Wei Bai, Haiming Wang, Na Wei, Chunyan Gao, Hong Wei

Publication number: 20140126536Abstract: When at user equipment UE transitions between radio access technology cells, at the transition a timer for controlling when the UE is to send a periodic location registration is reset. This avoids the UE being implicitly detached when it is unable/blocked in the packet-switched PS domain from performing a RAU but would be able to perform a LU, particularly when the UE is in PS/CS modes 1 or 2. Five different embodiments are detailed: the LU timer T3212 is reset with a value of time remaining in a tracking area update TAU timer T3412; T3212 is reset with an initial value for T3212; the RAU timer T3312 is reset with a value of time remaining in the TAU timer T3412; and the T3212 or T3312 reset is conditional on a value of time remaining in a PS backoff timer T3346 exceeding the value of time remaining in the TAU T3412.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2013Publication date: May 8, 2014Applicant: RENESAS MOBILE CORPORATIONInventors: Marko Tapani NIEMI, Hannu Petri HIETALAHTI

Publication number: 20140119346Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining whether a transmitter is power limited. A predetermined number is added to an amount of useful data for transmission expressed in bits, thereby to calculate the size of an increased amount of useful data. The predetermined number corresponds to the minimum number of bits required to transmit additional user data and any associated header. A transmission format which has the smallest transport block size with capacity for the increased amount of useful data is then selected from a predetermined group of transmission formats. Each of the group of transmission formats has a different transport block size. It is then determined whether the power required for the transmitter to transmit the selected transmission format exceeds the maximum power available to the transmitter. The apparatus and method can be applied to High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2013Publication date: May 1, 2014Applicant: Renesas Mobile CorporationInventor: Michael WHITEHEAD

Publication number: 20140113576Abstract: A preferred embodiment of the present invention relates generally to enhancing quality of a received signal in a receiver. The received signal can be enhanced by reducing phase noise. A described method starts with determining input information, wherein the input information comprises at least one of the following pieces of information: a modulation-and-coding scheme of the received signal, a multiple-antenna configuration (MIMO configuration), a signal quality estimate of the received signal, or a frequency separation between the received signal and a transmitted signal. The method continues with selecting a bandwidth value on the basis of the input information. The selecting should result in such a bandwidth value which has an advantageous effect to the quality of the received signal. This advantageous effect is achieved by performing the following: using the bandwidth value for generating a local oscillator signal, and shaping the received signal with the local oscillator signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2013Publication date: April 24, 2014Applicant: Renesas Mobile CorporationInventors: Markus NENTWIG, Liangge XU

Publication number: 20140098840Abstract: Linear symbol level equalisation is used to estimate a transmitted symbol vector xn(0) in an nth observation window yn of signals received from multiple users each using a different spreading code. An iterative conjugate gradient algorithm resolves a column vector z that satisfies Az=b, A being a square matrix and b being a column vector. The matrix vector product Apk used in each respective kth iteration of the algorithm is computed using at least one fast transform. The receiver or detector estimates a posterior mean {circumflex over (x)}LMMSE,n(0) from the computed column vector z, then utilises the estimated posterior mean to determine the transmitted symbol vector xn(0). The posterior mean {circumflex over (x)}LMMSE,n(0) may be estimated from matrix A and vector b. Different examples have the square matrix A with an inner or an outer product form; and have the fast transform as a fast Walsh-Hadamard transform and/or a fast (inverse) Fourier transform.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2013Publication date: April 10, 2014Applicant: Renesas Mobile CorporationInventor: Lars Puggaard Bogild CHRISTENSEN
