Abstract: Brittle acrylic films are made from impact-modified polyalkyl (meth)acrylate and are useful in forgery prevention labels containing the same. The films can be advantageously prepared by extrusion and, depending on the desired purpose, can be designed to be translucent or entirely non-transparent e.g. white. Ideally, the brittle acrylic films and the forgery prevention labels have no intended break points such as slits, perforation etc.

Abstract: A process is useful for producing optical molding materials on the basis of methyl methacrylate (MMA), wherein this MMA has been produced by an optimized method and the molding materials feature in particular a very low yellowness index. This MMA has been produced by direct oxidative esterification of methacrolein. In particular, an optimized workup of the reactor output from the oxidative esterification of methacrolein is useful for removing particularly discoloring byproducts. This process moreover has the advantage that fewer demands than described in related art are placed on plant apparatus configuration.

Abstract: An extruded matt foil has at least one layer in which glass beads are uniformly distributed in a polymer matrix with at least one fluoropolymer and at least one further layer. The matt foil has a particularly high UV-resistance, a high weathering resistance and excellent mechanical properties. Therefore, the foil is highly suitable for surface-protection of materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and for use in high-pressure laminates (HPLs).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel process for the production of coated filaments for subsequent application as print in extrusion-based 3D printers, e.g. FDM printers (fused deposition modelling printers). The filaments are coated in a separate process outside of the printer, and can also be used in a conventional extrusion printer. The present invention further relates to the coating device for application of the coating to the filament and to a roll containing the coated filaments.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the technical field of 3D printing, especially in the form of the binder jetting method, in which particulate material in a powder bed is bonded by means of a printed adhesive to form a three-dimensional object. The particulate materials may be inorganic materials, for example sand or a metal powder, or particulate polymeric materials, for example polymethacrylates or polyamides. For this purpose, polymethacrylates may take the form, for example, of suspension polymers, called bead polymers. The present invention relates to the use of porous particles in the binder jetting process, in particular of porous suspension polymers. These powders for 3-D printing differ from the prior art in that the porosity results in a faster and better absorption of the printed binder by the powder particles. A great advantage of this procedure is additionally that a product with less warpage is formed and that the end product has a better surface appearance.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing methyl methacrylate by direct oxidative esterification of methacrolein. Methyl methacrylate is used in large amounts for preparing polymers and copolymers with other polymerizable compounds. In addition, methyl methacrylate is an important synthesis unit for a variety of specialty esters based on methacrylic acid (MAA) which can be prepared by transesterification with the appropriate alcohol. There is consequently a great interest in very simple, economic and environmentally friendly processes for preparing this starting material. In particular the present invention relates to an optimized workup of the reactor effluent from the oxidative esterification of methacrolein by means of which process waste streams can be minimized and process water can be recycled in optimal fashion. The methacrylic acid generated in the process is also optimally recovered and isolated or converted into the commodity alkyl methacrylate.
Abstract: A process for preparing poly(lactide-co-glycolide) copolymer particles with an average particle size in the range of 50-800 nm includes transferring a mixture of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) copolymer, ethanol and carbon dioxide from a first reactor into a second reactor under rapid reduction of the pressure and expansion with phase separation into a gas phase, an ethanol aerosol and an ethanolic suspension containing poly(lactide-co-glycolide) copolymer particles, removing the carbon dioxide gas and the ethanol aerosol from the second reactor, and obtaining the poly(glycolide-co-lactide) copolymer particles in the form of an ethanolic suspension or in dry form from the second reactor.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the technical field of 3D printing, in particular in the form of the binder jetting process in which particles in a powder bed are adhesive-bonded by means of a printed adhesive to give a three-dimensional object. The particles here can be inorganic materials, e.g. sand or a metal powder, or polymeric particles, such as polymethacrylates or polyamides. To this end, polymethacrylates can by way of example take the form of suspension polymers known as bead polymers. In this context the present invention in particular relates to, as powders for 3D printing, suspension polymers which differ from the prior art in that they comprise a hard phase and an uncrosslinked soft phase.
