The frequency signature may be associated with an electronic device type. The systems and methods may activate a response monitor. The response monitor may be activated for a predetermined time. The response monitor may be activated responsive to the frequency signature. The systems and methods may determine a content characteristic of the first audible signal based on the inaudible signal. The systems and methods may include generating a message. The message may be based on the content characteristic. The systems and methods may include transmitting the message. The message may be transmitted on a condition that a second audible signal corresponds to the message and is received within the predetermined time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for generating an augmented reality (“AR”) display with user interface (“UI”) elements that respond to changes in pupil characteristics in response to detecting device streaming content. A media stream playing on a device that is within a threshold distance of the AR device is detected. The source of the media stream is identified. The AR device queries the source of the media stream for a consumption option. An AR overlay is generated and comprises selectable UI elements corresponding to the consumption options. In response to receiving an input at a UI element, the AR overlay is generated based on the consumption option.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for resolving a meaning of an ambiguous calendar entry and recommending broadcast media based on the meaning. To this end, a media guidance application may detect a calendar entry specific to a user, and determine that the calendar entry is ambiguous with respect to an associated period of time. In response to determining that the calendar entry is ambiguous with respect to the associated period of time, the media guidance application may determine characteristics of the calendar entry and the user, and compute an estimated range of time corresponding to the calendar entry based on the characteristic of the calendar entry and the characteristic of the user. The media guidance application may then generate for display a recommendation of broadcast media based on the estimated range of time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending content restrictions to a user based on chatter in a social network of the user. The system analyzes chatter in the social network to identify a correlation between what is posted by users and the content that the users are posting about. The system stores a mapping between chatter and expected attributes of the content referenced by the chatter. The system will determine whether to block the content when an expected attribute is associated with a content restriction.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for recommending and dynamically scheduling content. A time when a request to consume a content item is likely to be received is identified and an identifier of the content item is displayed on a device. Prior to the identified time, an option to consume, at the identified time, the content item is also displayed on the device. In response to the option being selected, the device stops displaying the identifier of the content item until the identified time.

Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing content recommendations. The system receives a plurality of sets of range values, each of which corresponds to a respective one of a plurality of parameters for recommending the content. The system selects different values within each of the plurality of sets of range values over time and provides a plurality of content recommendations to users based on the selected different values. The system then analyze users' behavior in response to the provided plurality of content recommendations. The system further updates at least one set of range values based on the analyzed users' behavior.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for a media guidance application (e.g., implemented on a user device) that explains sports terminology to a user accessing content that corresponds to a sporting event. The media guidance application may detect terms used in the content, determine the terms are unique to the sport, and display definitions and explanations alongside the terms.

Abstract: In some aspects, control circuitry receives and stores a user-specified time duration to associate with a skip-forward command. When the user later issues a skip-forward command to advance playback of a media asset to a desired location, the control circuitry retrieves the stored time duration, and determines an expected overshoot value associated with the skip-forward command. The control circuitry then compensates for the expected overshoot by calculating a new location in the media asset based on both the retrieved time duration and expected overshoot value. Upon advancing to the new location, the media asset is played back in a fast-forward mode, e.g., at a speed higher than normal speed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing individualized meeting content to participants in online meetings. Participant preferences may be summarized and displayed for speakers to see and attempt to follow, thus increasing the likelihood that meetings will progress according to the preferences of their attendees. Participants may also have their individual meeting feeds tailored to their preferences, if those preferences can be met in real time, during the meeting. Participants may further receive individual recordings of the meetings afterward, for those preferences that cannot be met in real time. In this manner, meeting participants may experience personalized versions of meetings, tailored to their particular preferences. This may improve participant interest in, and engagement with, online meetings.

Abstract: The system and methods described allow a content delivery application to provide temporary access to a content item for display on a content access device based on a user obtaining access to the content item initially on another system. The content delivery application receives content accessed confirmation that user access a content item and then monitors whether that access was interrupted. If the access was interrupted, the content delivery application generates a content access bookmark based on a content timeline and stores a content access authorization comprising the content access bookmark and an identifier from the profile. When the user requests the content item, the content delivery application transmits access information corresponding to segments of the content item, based on the content access bookmark to a user's device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating individualized content trailers. Content such as a video is divided into segments each representing a set of common features. With reference to a set of stored user preferences, certain segments are selected as aligning with the user's interests. Each selected segment may then be assigned a label corresponding to the plot portion or element to which it belongs. A coherent trailer may then be assembled from the selected segments, ordered according to their plot elements. This allows a user to see not only segments containing subject matter that aligns with their interests, but also a set of such segments arranged to give the user an idea of the plot, and a sense of drama, increasing the likelihood of engagement with the content.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for media quality selection of media assets based on internet service provider data usage limits. One disclosed technique herein discusses receiving a data usage limit from an internet service provider. The data usage limit includes maximum data usage for particular user account data. A media asset is selected from a media streaming server that includes a plurality of qualities having respective data sizes (e.g., for video quality—4K, 1080p, etc.) A determination is made whether a selected data size from a selected quality of the plurality of qualities of the selected media asset exceeds remaining data of the received data usage limit. If so, a request is transmitted to the to the media streaming server to retrieve the selected media asset with a quality having a data size smaller than the respective data size.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for enhancing a social media post with a content item. An illustrative method includes receiving a social media post; extracting, from the social media post, a first content item; identifying, in a frame of the first content item, a portion of the frame that is a non-focus portion; identifying a plurality of content items that fit within the non-focus portion; identifying a content preference of an audience of the social media post; determining an estimated length of time that the audience will view the social media post; selecting a second content item, from the plurality of content items, that matches the content preference of the audience and has a duration that does not exceed the estimated length of time; generating an enhanced social media post by overlaying the second content item onto the non-focus portion; and generating for display the enhanced social media post.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to address deficiencies in conventional biometric devices by dynamically enabling and disabling a biometric device based on the content the user is viewing. The media guidance application may utilize a device enablement rule, which has content criteria. If the content criteria is satisfied, the media guidance application may enable or disable a biometric device in accordance with the device enablement rule.

Abstract: Systems and methods for debiasing a recommendation engine are disclosed herein. A search query associated with a user profile is received at a recommendation engine. Control circuitry generates a result set of items of content based on the search query and generates a bias score for a content attribute based on the result set. The control circuitry also generates a time-averaged bias score for the content attribute based on a plurality of search queries associated with the user profile. Based on the bias score and the time-averaged bias score, the control circuitry determines whether a bias is signaled for the content attribute. Finally, the control circuitry outputs, for display via a computing device, the result set or a debiased result set based on a result of the determination of whether the bias is signaled.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a computer-based process that determines when a viewer is likely to skip over supplemental content and adjusts supplemental content presentation to compensate. Systems of embodiments of the disclosure may utilize various inputs to determine the likelihood of skipping supplemental content, including cursor position at or near specified icons or other UI elements, as well as user actions such as gaze direction, various motions or actions, controller manipulations, and the like. Once a likelihood of skipping supplemental content is determined, various actions may be taken in response, including without limitation selection of supplemental content that conveys its intended message prior to skipping, supplemental content that can be played at increased speed, and designation of supplemental content slots as skippable or non-skippable.

Abstract: In systems and methods for enhancing group watch experiences, a first user's reaction is detected using multiple sensors, e.g., at least one camera and a microphone, and may be combined with context information to determine an action to perform at user equipment devices of other users participating in the group watch to convey the first user's reaction. Images from the at least one camera can be used to determine a portion of the screen to which the user's reaction is directed and/or another user to whom the reaction is directed. The reaction may be conveyed using one or more of an audio effect, a visual effect, haptic effect or text, e.g., to highlight the determined portion or user, display an icon and/or output an audio or video clip. A signal for providing haptic feedback may be transmitted to the user equipment device of the determined user.

The inaudible signal may be associated with a content identifier of the audible signal. The transmitter may be configured to transmit the audible signal, the inaudible signal, or both, to a first electronic device, a second electronic device, or both. The receiver may be configured to receive a first message that includes a first input and a second message that includes a second input. The processor may be configured to determine whether the first input matches the second input. The transmitter may be further configured to transmit the first message to the first service on a condition that the first input and the second input are determined to match.

Abstract: A transcription of a query for content discovery is generated, and a context of the query is identified, as well as a first plurality of candidate entities to which the query refers. A search is performed based on the context of the query and the first plurality of candidate entities, and results are generated for output. A transcription of a second voice query is then generated, and it is determined whether the second transcription includes a trigger term indicating a corrective query. If so, the context of the first query is retrieved. A second term of the second query similar to a term of the first query is identified, and a second plurality of candidate entities to which the second term refers is determined. A second search is performed based on the second plurality of candidates and the context, and new search results are generated for output.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for playing back indexed conversations based on the presence of other people. When a user asks a query, the system monitors the area, determines the other users in the area, and searches its database for a conversation that addresses the query in consideration of the other users present in the area. The system filters the indexed conversations to find conversations that included all the users present and determines the best matching conversation based on the words of the query as well as the keywords from the conversation. Once the system has determined the best match conversation, the system plays back the conversation to the user.
