  • Publication number: 20040079478
Abstract: Two-component systems are described which are suitable for underlining, adhesive bonding of the crimped fold and sealing of auto body sections, particularly for crimped fold sealing of add-on vehicle parts. The two-component systems attain the requisite grip strength for mounting the add-on parts on the body as well as the requisite strength and dimensional stability for the production process up to and with the CIP passage, within the predetermined cycle time, on the basis of cross-linking of the sealant composition twice. In one embodiment, the surface of the two-component system is pre-cross-linked by a UV-induced reaction and by the cross-linking of the two-component system to the extent of portability. In addition, two-component systems are described which cross-link intentionally only partially up to a consistency that permits a rugged course of the process through cleaning baths and which harden completely only by means of a further hardening process, for instance in the CIP forced circulation oven.

  • Patent number: 6649264
Abstract: A compound material including fibers which are embedded in a thermoplastic matrix has a free surface to be treated. The material has one or more capillary spaces extending between the fibers, which spaces are at least partly formed by communicating pores and which are open towards the free surface. • Patent number: 6514327
Abstract: Described are liquid setting and hardening accelerators for hydraulic binders and such binder comprising mixtures that preferably are alkali-free and chloride-free and that do not comprise any basic features. The setting accelerators comprise as components aluminum salts, complexing agents, corrosion inhibitors and optionally inorganic and/or organic thickening or thixotropic agents. In comparison with the use of alkaline accelerators, an essential reduction in the setting time and a faster development of high compressive strengths is achieved by the accelerators of the present invention. In comparison with commercially available alkali-free accelerators solid precipitates of aluminum salts and thereby generated plugging up of the spray nozzles is avoided and the corrosion at the spraying devices is eliminated. Said advantages result in a great economic advantage due to less maintenance needed for the devices and less interruptions of work.

  • Patent number: 6511727
Abstract: Flat strip lamella for reinforcing weight-carrying or weight-transferring building components. It has a composite structure consisting of a plurality of pliant or loose-flex supporting fibers (26) aligned parallel to each other, and a binding matrix (28) which connects the supporting fibers to each other so that they are shear-resistant, and is fastenable by means of an adhesive (16) by its broad side to the surface of the building component (12) that is to be reinforced. So that the flat strip lamella, to which the binding matrix gives rigid elastic form, can also be bent over corner edges of a building component (12), the invention proposes that the binding matrix (28) be removed, in at least an intermediary area (30), by uncovering the supporting fibers (26), and that the uncovered supporting fibers be subjected to a liquid or pasty thermosetting plastic, in order to stabilize the bent-over condition.

  • Patent number: 6478915
Abstract: A method of sealing body parts such as an edge fold of a motor vehicle component, for example a door, a rear or front flap or a sliding roof panel, includes a two-step pre-cross-linking of the sealing composition in the rough body part. In a first step the surface of a UV-active sealing composition is pre-cross-linked by UV irradiation, and in a second step immediately following, the edge fold adhesive and the sealing composition are hardened by thermal action. The edge-sealed body parts produced by the method are transportable and are of visually and functionally satisfactory quality after passing through cleaning baths and after thermal hardening in a KTL kiln. Since the sealing is carried out in the rough body part rather than during the coating process, the method provides a substantial potential cost saving.

  • Patent number: 6389775
Abstract: The invention relates to a reinforcement element (8) for load-carrying or load-transferring structural parts (12). Said reinforcement element has a flat strip segment (100, consisting of a plurality of supporting fibers (26) which are embedded in a binder matrix (28) and are aligned parallel to one another and in the longitudinal direction of the segment. According to the invention, the flat strip segment (10) engages in an anchoring strap (18) with each of its free ends and is secured on said anchoring straps against the tensile and shearing forces exerted in the longitudinal direction of the segment. This enables the flat strip segment (10) can be fixed to a structural part (12) with an impressed pre-stress. The anchoring straps (18) can be anchored on the structural part (12) by means of fixing members (36).

  • Patent number: 6387176
Abstract: A new category of multi-purpose polymers is presented, the polymers being capable to serve as a cement dispersing agent and which at the same time are set-accelerating and do have shrinkage reducing- and anticorrosive properties to steel. The polymers are ester and amide group-modified acrylic polymers, obtainable by a polymer analogous esterification of a polyacrylic acid with 1) a monofunctional polyalkyleneglycol-monoalkylether, 2) a tertiary alkanolamine and optionally 3) by amidation with a amino-polyalkylenglycol alkylether. The multi-purpose polymers serve for cement dispersing admixture for concrete with set accelerating, shrinkage compensating and anticorrosive properties to steel.

  • Patent number: 6290021
Abstract: A sound insulating structure (12) comprises first layer plates (30) arranged in coplanar and contiguous relationship in order to form a first structural layer, second layer plates (13) arranged in coplanar relationship in order to form a second structural layer in spaced parallel relation with the first structural layer, and a core (6), which core effectively bridges the space between and adheres together plates of the respective layers, and which core comprises an elastic, vibration deadening mass. At least one through opening is provided in each of the second layer plates with the purposes of permitting escape of any trapped air and of permitting inspection of the space between the structural layers while the mass in the core sets to an elastic state. • Patent number: 6268031
Abstract: An injection hose intended for sealing expansion joint in concrete structures. The hose is in the form a continuous hollow extrusion (12), made of elastic, flexible material, with a continuous longitudinal bore (10) and at least one longitudinal groove (16). The groove (16) is connected to the bore (10) by means of apertures (22) in the wall of the extrusion and is fitted with a sealing strip (24), made of compressible, elastic material, which extends over the apertures (22). Production of the hose is made particularly simple and inexpensive by virtue of the fact that the width of the groove openings (26) is less than the diameter of the sealing strip (24) and that the means of holding the sealing strip (24) in place are formed by making undercuts in the side (30) of the groove (16).

  • Patent number: 5916483
Abstract: Additives are disclosed which inhibit the corrosion of metals in construction materials which contain an inorganic binder. The inventive corrosion inhibitors contain a reaction product of amines and acids or they consist of such a reaction product. Said saltlike corrosion inhibitors upon use do not develop any undesired fragrance, and they furthermore do not bring along any health risks for the persons who are working with said substances. Through the adding of the inventive corrosion inhibitors, furthermore the properties of the construction material during its preparation and also during its use can be improved. In corresponding processes for inhibiting the corrosion of metals which are in contact with the construction materials, like e.g. metal armings, the corrosion inhibitors are usually added in an amount of 0.01% by weight to 10% by weight of said reaction product, referred to the inorganic binder which is contained in such material.
