  • Patent number: 6585462
Abstract: A device in a tool holding assembly for axially moving a rotatable shaft on which is arranged at a first end of the shaft a device for performing work during rotation of the shaft includes an electric motor for rotating the shaft, and at least one bearing radially supporting the shaft and permitting movement of the shaft in the axial direction. The shaft has a second end forming a free end and an electromagnetic mechanism is arranged to affect or operate on the second end of the shaft to draw the shaft in the axial direction from the first end to the second end against the affect of pressure acting against the second end of the shaft in the opposite axial direction. • Patent number: 6403025
Abstract: Method and device for production of powder metal bodies comprising: introducing powder material (4) in a compacting chamber (4) in a hollow die (1), compacting the material in mainly axial direction in the compacting chamber by urging a first punch (2), axially into said compacting chamber, advancing said first punch (2) further into compacting chamber for further compacting the powder material and imparting upon the die plate (1) a biasing tension, causing the edge portion of the die opening to move under increasing tension in the same direction as the first punch (2), thereby causing opening radial size reduction, causing axial compression also in a direction opposed to that by the first punch (2) by a second punch (3), arranged to move opposed relative the die (1) as compared to that of the first punch (2), and retracting the first punch (2) axially, thereby relieving the hollow die from its biasing and regaining initial form, thereby simultaneously expelling the compact thus formed.

  • Patent number: 6250142
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring the waviness of surfaces of, for example, bearing parts involves the use of a control element that is rotatably applied against a surface of the object to be measured. The control element has a similar geometry to the final bearing component and is placed in a hydrostatic pocket, or kept in a bearing arrangement, allowing it to rotate and move freely. The control element is loaded with a substantially constant force and is arranged to be moved rotatably across the surface to be tested. At least one transducer is arranged to monitor the direct movement of the control element or the movement via the pocket, and a signal is created corresponding to the waviness.

  • Patent number: 6150305
Abstract: The present invention includes a lubricated bearing which incorporates a phase convertible compound. The compound absorbs and stores heat generated during operation of the bearing. This absorbs and stored heat is then released upon start-up conditions of the bearing, especially under low temperature conditions. The released heat is used to improve the ability of the lubricant contained within the bearings to reduce friction of the relatively movable parts contained therein.

  • Patent number: 5058445
Abstract: In a screw and nut driving device with low internal friction, e.g. a ball nut mechanism, irreversibility is effected in a simple and efficient manner when the nut is rotatably driven and enclosed by an annular space in which a helical spring is arranged in such a manner that its ends are acted upon by the driving force from the external driving source, thus that the spring can rotate freely in the space. When the external driving source is disconnected and the nut, due to axial load is subjected to a torque, the ends of the spring are acted upon thus that the spring is deformed to friction locking against a non-rotating surface, whereby the nut is prevented from rotation.
