  • Patent number: 4365844
Abstract: The correcting valve comprises two identical parallel pistons which control the opening or closing of two valves which are disposed between two inputs and two outputs of two braking circuits. Two thrust members which are subjected to a control pressure urge the pistons in the direction for opening the valves. Two reaction springs co-operate with two transmission members for urging the thrust members in the opposite direction. When the two brakes circuits are supplied, the correcting valve has an identical cut-off pressure for the two circuits. In the event of failure of one of the circuits, the transmission members come into mutual engagement, resulting in a doubling in the cut-off pressure in the circuit which is still intact. The invention is used for dual-circuit braking systems for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4353291
Abstract: Servo unit provided with an internal bracing member which is stressed upon assembly, permitting mounting thereof to a vehicle by means of only two fixing screws. The bracing member has an initial shape which is curved in a given direction, forming a clearance between the inside face of the mounting wall and two regions of the bracing member against which the screws bear. The clearance is eliminated when the bracing member is pressed against the inside face at the moment of definitive fixing of the screws with respect to the casing. The bracing member of the invention provides for better distribution over the whole of the inside face of the braking reaction forces which are applied to the casing.

  • Patent number: 4353599
Abstract: The corrector comprises two identical parallel pistons which control the opening and closing of two valves located between two inlets and two outlets of two braking circuits. Two push rods subjected to a control pressure urge the pistons in the direction for opening the valves. A reaction spring cooperates with a transmission element to urge the push rods in the opposite direction. When both braking circuits are being supplied, the corrector presents an identical cut-off point for the two circuits. In the event of one of the circuits failing, the transmission element undergoes tilting which results in an unequal sharing of the reaction force and an increase in the cut-off point in the undamaged circuit.

  • Patent number: 4334712
Abstract: The Compensator is of the type in which the cut-off point is defined by measurement of the pressure of the brake liquid trapped in a pilot chamber when the latter is isolated by closure of a valve associated with a mass which is responsive to the deceleration of the vehicle and which is urged by resilient means towards a position corresponding to the opening of said valve. It is characterized in that it comprises means responsive to the braking pressure, which modify the calibration of said resilient means as a function of said pressure. The braking compensator is applicable to braking systems for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4237923
Abstract: A solenoid valve comprising a housing having opposed inlet and outlet ports which communicate via a passage containing a poppet member movable in response to energization of a coil is disclosed. A flexible wall is further provided in said passage to define inlet and outlet chambers communicating respectively with said inlet and outlet ports. A second passage in said flexible wall connects said chambers, and a resilient spring urges a valve seat defined in said second passage into fluid tight engagement with the poppet member, whatever the position of the latter. The poppet member is movable between a first position in which it urges the wall against an abutment, thereby preventing any communication between the inlet and outlet ports, and a second position in which the wall is movable relative thereto, whereby said wall acts as a non-return valve between the inlet and outlet ports.

  • Patent number: 4222161
Abstract: A tool comprising a receptacle having a cylindrical portion defining a space therewithin adapted to receive a resilient seal after deformation of the latter by an external member is disclosed. A movable member carried by said receptacle comprises a tubular portion slidably received on the cylindrical portion and movable from a first position in which said tubular portion is opposite the space towards a second position in which said tubular portion is offset relative to the space against the action of a first spring. The tubular member is provided with an aperture adapted to receive the external member, and an element is slidably carried in said space and resiliently urged away from the latter by a pair of second springs, thereby expulsing the seal in a corresponding groove when the tubular member is moved towards its second position.

  • Patent number: 4219105
Abstract: A disc brake includes a caliper which receives two friction elements. Opposed edges of a friction element and the caliper respectively define a gap therebetween. A noise reducing spring of the brake includes a pair of resilient opposed arms. The resilient arms of the spring fit into the gap and cooperate with the gap-defining edges to reduce brake noise. A mounting pin carried by the caliper supports the friction elements therein. An aperture defined by the spring receives the mounting pin so that the spring is pivotally mounted relative to the caliper and friction elements. Upon installation, the spring is placed in its inoperative position with its resilient arms disposed away from the gap. After the friction elements and mounting pins are in place, the spring is pivoted into place and a tab of the spring snaps into a recess of the caliper to lock the spring in its operative position.

  • Patent number: 4219242
Abstract: A braking correction device has a stepped bore which is divided into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber by a piston. A control valve is disposed in a passage of the piston and is normally open when the piston occupies a rest position. When the pressure in the inlet chamber rises, the control valve remains open until such pressure has reached a predetermined value, and fluid communication between the inlet and outlet chambers through said control valve is metered when the pressure in the inlet chamber increases above said predetermined value. The piston is urged towards its rest position under the influence of a return force delivered by a control member connected to the suspension of the vehicle, and abutting the piston at its outer end. The inlet and outlet chambers can also communicate by a passage defined between the outer periphery of the piston and the inner surface of the bore.

  • Patent number: 4218100
Abstract: A hydraulic vehicle braking system including an operator-controlled fluid pressure source connected to the actuator of a vehicle wheel brake. An antiskid valve is interposed between the operator-controlled pressure source and the brake actuator and is responsive to wheel skidding to interrupt the fluid connection until the end of the braking phase and to permit a fluid connection between the brake actuator and a low pressure fluid reservoir in response to subsequent wheel skidding. The system includes a second source of pressurized fluid and a device for replenishing the brake actuator having a pressure responsive valve which opens fluid flow connection between the second fluid pressure source and the brake actuator when the pressure difference between the operator-controlled pressure source and the brake actuator exceeds a predetermined value.
