Abstract: A method and device of the pulse-compression radar or sonar type which makes it possible to determine the speed of a moving object is provided with a transmitter system, a receiver system, and a signal processing system. The transmitter system is capable of transmitting two associated pulses, one of which is modulated with an increasing variation law and the other of which is modulated with a decreasing variation law. The signal processing system includes two correlators, an adder, a subtractor, and a computer.

Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for checking the electric continuity of an electrically conducting material device, in which a current is injected between two points of said device and the resulting voltage between these points is measured. The invention is remarkable in that said current is an AC current and its pulsation is chosen sufficiently large so that the impedance between the two points, measured by the ratio of said voltage and of the current, may be considered as being equal to the product of the inductance of the path of the current between said points multiplied by said pulsation.

Abstract: A method is provided of temporary assembling by soldering of peel off plates through soldering material and a flexible junction element for a mechanical release device to release two parts temporarily fixed edgewise by peeling off the flexible element and the soldering material. There is provided on the plates and flexible junction element reserve areas without any adherence to the soldering material, and preferably at the limits of said reserved areas a recess for removing any excess of soldering material, and the melting solder material is put under load for distributing it between the plates and the flexible junction element. A so obtained assembly can be applied particularly to obtain automatic opening of containers in particular in space for spreading out solar panels.

Abstract: This invention relates to a mechanism for automatically actuating a rescue device upon opening of a panel obturating an exit and bearing said rescue device, mechanism comprising a control bar connected to said rescue device and adapted, under the action of a voluntary actuating member, to be rendered fast either with said panel or with the periphery of said exit, with the result that opening of said panel does not bring about, or brings about, respectively, actuation of said rescue device via said control bar. Abstract: Method for heating the reducing gas of a blast furnace by means of a plasma generator. The reducing gas flows through a pipe into which issues the nozzle of the plasma generator. The pipe leads towards a tuyere of injection into the blast furnace, and the axis of said nozzle converging towards that of the pipe. The method is characterized in that the acute angle A between the axis of the nozzle and the axis of the pipe is at the most equal to 50.degree., in that the distance 1 separating the point of intersection of the axis of the pipe with the axis of the nozzle from the center of the outlet orifice of the nozzle is at the most equal toD/2sinA,D being the inner diameter of the reducing gas inlet pipe, and in that the ratioD/d,in which d is the inner diameter of the outlet orifice of the nozzle is at least equal to 1.5. The object of the method is to eliminate wear of the reducing gas pipe by means of the jet of plasma.

Abstract: The invention concerns the production of three-dimensional thread packages. Vertical rods (11) are maintained in a stationary arranged network by engagement through perforated plates (12,13). A thread (10) is deposited from above this network by a shuttle (9) in a sinuous path between upper end portions of the rods (11). The layers of thread thus formed in succession, supported by the perforated plate (12) which undergoes a descending movement, are compacted by a perforated plate (7) which is lowered upon the finishing of each layer. A lacing arrangement (35) replaces the rods (11) by threads after the thread laying phase.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device incorporating retractable stops for limiting the flappings of the blades of the main rotor of a rotorcraft. Each lower stop comprises a convex roller presenting a convex stop surface and bearing a weight at the end of an arm. By its convex roller, the lower stop is mounted to pivot about the pin for retaining the blade on the hub. On the ground, the bearing member is in contact with a lower bearing surface fast with the blade at the level of the pitch control lever, in order to limit the downward flappings of the blade. The lower stop pivots about the pin above the lower plate. The upward flappings of the blade may be limited by upper stops disposed substantially symmetrically below the upper plate. A second lower weight, returned by a spring, and engaging by a nose-shaped element in a notch in the rear of the bearing surface, acts as upper stop. The invention is more particularly applicable to equipping helicopters.

Abstract: A quick connect system for connecting a blood vessel and a cardiac prosthesis comprises two cooperating annular connectors, one fixed to the prosthesis and the other to the end of the blood vessel. A removable obturating plate is mounted on the connector fixed to the cardiac prosthesis so as to be able to slide in a plane at least substantially orthogonal to the axis of the connector, this plate comprising an outward extension enabling it to be gripped, when it is in its obturating position. The invention is particularly useful in heart surgery.

Abstract: A variable pitch multi-blade propeller suitable for use on a helicopter is constructed of a foam preform joined with a fibrous spar enclosed in resin-impregnated foils and fitted with a metal leading edge. Various components are assembled in a mold and the resins, then cured. The structure may further include a reinforcing yoke of carbon fiber fabrics preimpregnated with a polymerizable synthetic resin. The process may further include a heat treating step to effect polymerization.
