  • Patent number: 6173543
Abstract: A partition system includes having a [covered] face and a horizontal frame member. A C-shaped structured channel is attached to the horizontal frame member outboard of the [covered] face. The channel extends horizontally and includes top and bottom parallel flanges that attach to the horizontal frame member and that define a horizontal wireway adjacent to the horizontal frame member. Apertures are formed in the top and bottom flanges for routing utilities into the wireway from above or below. Wiring routed through the apertures can be protected by sleeves. A shelf or worksurface is supported in cantilevers on the channel. A flexible is attached over the channel. Vertical blade supports for shelves can also be supported on the partition with vertically spaced rear brackets attached to the partition.

  • Patent number: 6170927
Abstract: A drawer interlinking system for a storage cabinet is disclosed herein. The cabinet includes a frame, a first sliding assembly, and a second sliding assembly. Each sliding assembly is movable between an extended position and a retracted position relative to the frame. The frame includes a flexible member coupled at a first end to the first sliding assembly. The line is directed by a first guide coupled to the frame in association with the first sliding assembly, a guide assembly coupled to the frame and spaced apart from the first guide, a glide assembly coupled to the frame by a tension member, and a second guide coupled to the frame in association with the second sliding assembly and spaced apart from the guide assembly. The flexible member is coupled at a second end to the second sliding assembly, so that when one sliding assembly is extended from the frame the other sliding assembly is retracted into the frame. The guide assembly can comprise a left pulley connected to a right pulley.

  • Patent number: 6170200
Abstract: A furniture system is particularly adapted to support group activities in open plans, and the like. A plurality of columns support an overhead framework on the floor of a building in a freestanding fashion at a predetermined elevation, generally above average user height. A plurality of individual panels are provided, wherein each panel is constructed to permit easy, manual, bodily translation of the same by an adult user. A hanger arrangement is associated with the overhead framework, and cooperates with connectors on the panels to detachably suspend the panels at various locations along the overhead framework. The panels are manually reconfigurable between many different arrangements to efficiently and effectively support different group activities. Preferably, the panels are capable of providing a partitioning function to visually divide at least a portion of the workspace, and/or a display function to facilitate group communications.

  • Patent number: 6168237
Abstract: An armrest construction for chairs includes an armrest support having a lower end constructed for attachment to a chair, an upper end, and a mounting block attached to the upper end. A pivot block is pivoted to the mounting block at a main pivot, the pivot block having an upwardly-extending follower. First and second gears are each pivoted to the pivot block, the gears having intermeshing teeth at an inner end such that rotation of the first gear causes the second gear to simultaneously rotate in an opposite direction, the first and second gears further having outer ends. A support plate having pivot/slide members engages the outer ends of the first and second gears, and further has a guide operably engaging the follower to guide lateral movement of the support plate along a predetermined path.

  • Patent number: 6135405
Abstract: An adjustable support for computer keyboards and the like, including a support member shaped to retain an associated keyboard thereon. The support member is pivotally mounted to shift about a normally generally horizontal pivot axis to define a tilt angle for the support member and the keyboard with respect to a user, wherein the tilt angle is adjustable within a predetermined tilt range. The adjustable support further includes a tilt adjustment controller operatively connected with the support member and including a tilt rod and a releasable lock which move relative to one another when the support member is pivoted about the tilt axis for adjustment of the tilt angle. The lock engages the tilt rod in a locked position to retain the support member at a selected tilt angle. The lock disengages the tilt rod in an unlocked position to permit the support member to pivot freely within the tilt range.
