  • Patent number: 11291763
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a user interface configured to generate an electrical signal to start a basal insulin rate test when prompted by a user, an input configured to receive sampled blood glucose data of a patient that is obtained during a specified time duration, including a time duration during delivery of insulin according to a specified basal insulin rate pattern, and a controller communicatively coupled to the input and the user interface. The controller includes an insulin calculation module configured for determining at least one of an amount of basal insulin over-delivered and an amount of basal insulin under-delivered during the basal insulin rate test in trying to meet a target blood glucose baseline. • Patent number: 11147916
Abstract: A patch pump utilizes piezoelectricity to dispense medicament from a cartridge syringe to a patient. Pump can include a plurality of piezoelectric elements that when energized cause linear motion of a pushrod that interfaces with the syringe in the cartridge to advance the syringe and dispense the medicament. The high torque generated by the piezoelectric elements is directly converted into the same amount of torque on the lead screw, so no torque increasing gear reduction system is needed and the pushrod utilized to drive the syringe can be contained within and connected directly to the motor assembly. Such a piezoelectric-based system can therefore be made smaller and with fewer moving parts than an electromagnetic motor of the same capability such that the pump has a smaller size than has heretofore been possible with prior art electromagnetic-based syringe pumps and other pumps that utilize gear reduction systems.

  • Patent number: 11116901
Abstract: Missed meal bolus reminders or alerts require a user to access the user's pump and/or remote control to clear the reminder/alert even when the user skipped a meal such that no meal bolus was needed. CGM data can be leveraged such that the missed meal bolus alert is only triggered when glucose levels rise in response to consuming the meal within the programmed time window. Therefore, the alert is only provided when a meal is actually consumed and no bolus has been delivered. This further allows the user to be alerted sooner, i.e., as soon as glucose levels rise a predetermined amount or passed a predetermined threshold indicating consumption of a meal as opposed to only at the end of the programmed window.

  • Patent number: 10994077
Abstract: Enhanced confirmations for programming of touchscreen infusion pumps reduce the likelihood of users confirming pump parameters that have been mistakenly programmed. Following programming of a given pump parameter, an icon or image intuitively related to the pump parameter can be displayed on the touchscreen. To confirm programming of the parameter, the user can be required to trace the icon on the touchscreen. The user will therefore necessarily associate the confirmation step with the parameter being programmed and be far more likely to realize if a mistake has been made because the user was intending to program a different parameter than with simple confirmations involving the press of a confirmation button.

  • Patent number: 10918785
Abstract: A system and method can provide for a remote electronic device to be used to remotely initiate delivery of a medicament bolus with a medical device, such as an insulin pump, with the medical device providing audible or tactile confirmation of the programmed bolus. The bolus amount can be calculated by or programmed or otherwise entered into the smartphone, etc., and then transmitted to the medical device. When the pump receives the transmitted bolus amount, it issues one or more indications such as audible sounds and/or vibrations in any number of desired combinations. For instance, each individual sound or vibration may correspond to an increment of the medicament. The user can therefore determine the size of the medicament bolus by the number of sounds or vibrations and can confirm or cancel delivery of the bolus.
