  • Patent number: 10864318
Abstract: A user-wearable patch pump system for delivery of insulin or other medicament can include a patch pump having a reusable drive unit and a replaceable and refillable cartridge. The cartridge can selectively attach to and be detached from the drive unit. The cartridge can initially be inserted onto the drive unit in a first orientation at an angle to the drive unit and then be rotated to align the cartridge with the drive unit and lock the cartridge in place on the drive unit to form the patch pump.

  • Patent number: 10864322
Abstract: A portable infusion pump can communicate with glucose monitor, such as a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), to receive continuous feedback relating to a user's blood glucose level during insulin or other medicament therapy and can automatically deliver insulin to a user when the CGM data indicates a need for additional insulin. Due to potential unreliability in the correlation of the CGM data to the user's actual blood glucose level, risk mitigation can be employed to limit the amount of extra insulin that can be delivered by the pump in response to the CGM data.

  • Patent number: 10726100
Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, an apparatus comprising a pump configured to deliver insulin, a processor, and a user interface including a bistable display. A display element of the bistable display is placed in one of two stable orientations upon application of a biasing voltage and stays in the stable orientation when the biasing voltage is removed. The processor includes a display module configured to display a non-blank reversion display screen on the bistable display when no input is received at the user interface after a specified time duration, and to recurrently change the reversion display screen until input is received at the user interface.

  • Patent number: 10653828
Abstract: A portable medical device includes an interface for accepting a power supply and enabling data transfer while still connected to a human body. The interface may include a universal serial bus interface and may be coupled to a data isolation chip and a power isolation chip. A power controlling processor may determine how the supplied power, e.g., voltage, is supplied to other components within the infusion device. Additional circuitry within the system may provide a secure power transfer within the device to ensure user safety and ensure that a high frequency noise is properly attenuated.

  • Patent number: 10569016
Abstract: An infusion pump system providing therapy to a patient in a closed-loop or semi-closed loop mode can safely automatically revert to open-loop therapy. The system stores a default open-loop basal rate profile in memory. The system also continually tracks the insulin on board for the patient over a plurality of closed-loop therapy intervals. When an error or event occurs requiring reversion to open-loop therapy, the system automatically provides therapy according to the open-loop basal rate profile and the tracked insulin on board amount.

  • Patent number: 10549051
Abstract: A portable insulin pump can utilize readings from a sensor incorporated into an infusion set used with the pump to deliver insulin to a patient to determine if the infusion set is or is likely to become dislodged from the patient. Readings from the sensor that are inconsistent with expected readings or a range of expected readings can indicate that the infusion set has become dislodged from the patient.

  • Patent number: 10478551
Abstract: A system and method can provide for a remote electronic device to be used to remotely initiate delivery of a medicament bolus with a medical device, such as an insulin pump, with the medical device providing audible or tactile confirmation of the programmed bolus. The bolus amount can be calculated by or programmed or otherwise entered into the smartphone, etc., and then transmitted to the medical device. When the pump receives the transmitted bolus amount, it issues one or more indications such as audible sounds and/or vibrations in any number of desired combinations. For instance, each individual sound or vibration may correspond to an increment of the medicament. The user can therefore determine the size of the medicament bolus by the number of sounds or vibrations and can confirm or cancel delivery of the bolus.
