    Abstract: It is a problem of the present invention to provide a normal pressure cationic dyeable polyester being cationic dyeable under normal pressure, and having high strength. The problem can be solved by a normal pressure cationic dyeable polyester, characterized by being a copolymerized polyester having a main repeating unit including ethylene terephthalate, and including, in an acid component forming the copolymerized polyester, a metal salt of sulfoisophthalic acid (A) and a compound (B) which is a phosphonium salt of sulfoisophthalic acid or the like in such a state as to simultaneously satisfy the two mathematical expressions. Preferably, the glass transition temperature of the copolymerized polyester is within the range of 70 to 85° C., and the intrinsic viscosity of the copolymerized polyester is within the range of 0.55 to 1.00 dL/g. Further, by melt spinning the copolymerized polyester, it is possible to provide a polyester fiber.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium disk substrate is provided for achieving a magnetic disk having a suitable surface roughness, a high in-plane magnetic anisotropy and a high S/N. The manufacturing method has a texturing process wherein the magnetic recording medium disk substrate is rotated in the circumferential direction while a polishing tape is pressed against the rotating substrate.     Abstract: The islands-in-sea type composite fiber of the present invention comprises a sea part containing an easily soluble polymer and 100 or more island parts containing a hardly soluble polymer, per fiber. In a cross-sectional profile of the composite fiber, each of the island parts has a thickness in the range of from 10 to 1,000 nm and the intervals between the island parts adjacent to each other are 500 nm or less. The islands-in-sea type composite fiber is produced by melt spinning the sea part polymer and the island part polymer mentioned above through a spinneret for an islands-in-sea type composite fiber and taking up the spun fiber at a speed of 400 to 6,000 m/min. Dissolution and removal of the sea part polymer from the composite fiber gives a group of fine fibers having a thickness of 10 to 1,000 rim and useful for clothing, industrial materials and other applications.
