Publication number: 20110295550Abstract: Thread parameters for a threaded object are determined. Spatial reference systems (X, Y, Z) and (X?, Y?, Z?) are respectively identified for a position sensor and the threaded object. A transformation matrix describing a quadratic form representing the threaded object in (X, Y, Z) may be determined to relate the reference systems. For example, a sensor trajectory on the threaded object may be determined, along with measurement points on the threaded object. The measurement points may be selected so the matrix, evaluated on these values, has maximum rank. Position data at measurement points in the second reference system may be transformed into the first reference system, yielding first results. After coating the threaded object, position data at the measurement points may be acquired again and transformed into the first reference system, yielding second results. Comparisons between the first and second results may provide thickness of the coating and quality verification.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2011Publication date: December 1, 2011Applicant: Tenaris Connections LimitedInventors: Nicolas Hernan Bonadeo, Sebastian Berra, Javier Ignacio Etcheverry

Patent number: 8052173Abstract: A threaded metallic joint has the thread surface of pin (100) and box (200) covered with a coating comprising a first layer (24) laid on the overall surface of the pin member (100), and a second layer (25) laid on part of the surfaces of either one of the pin or box members. In a first aspect, the coating comprises a first layer with high friction and anti-seize properties laid on the overall surface of the pin member (100), and a second layer (25) with low friction properties laid on specific parts of the surfaces of either one of the pin or box members. Preferably the specific surfaces are those which are in reciprocal radial contact during make-up until pin and box reach the point where shoulders (9, 10) abut. The second layer may contain polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). In a second aspect the first layer with a high friction and anti-seize properties laid on the overall surface of the box member (200).Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2006Date of Patent: November 8, 2011Assignee: Tenaris Connections LimitedInventors: Gabriel E. Publication number: 20110233925Abstract: A threaded joint has a seal flange or device in order to avoid the seepage of external pressure of fluid inside the pipe. The sealing flange has an L-shape and is interposed in a housing between a pin and a box, and the flange-like annular portion of the flange helps to verify proper positioning of the flange during make-up and contributes to increase tightness of the joint because the external fluid pressure improves adherence of the sealing flange against the contact surfaces of the joint.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2011Publication date: September 29, 2011Applicant: TENARIS CONNECTIONS LIMITEDInventors: Giuseppe Della Pina, Stefano Ravanelli

Patent number: 8007601Abstract: A method for producing a tubular bar, more particularly a stabilizer bar, is provided. The method comprises providing a tubular bar of desired size having an outer and inner surface, heating the bar to an elevated temperature, quenching the bar by application of a cooling fluid to the surfaces of the bar, and forming the tube to a desired shape without annealing. The method further provides for the composition of a high-strength, high formability carbon steel alloy to be used in conjunction with the method. Advantageously, the bar is formable without thermal processing subsequent to quenching. In this fashion, metal tubular bars, such as stabilizer bars, may be formed at reduced cost.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2010Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Tenaris Connections LimitedInventors: Edgardo Oscar López, Lorenzo Vito Caserta, Hernán Juan Desimone, Cuauhtémoc Martinez Salazar

Publication number: 20100294401Abstract: A high strength bainitic steel and a process for producing seamless pipes for OCTG applications are described. In particular, the advantages ensuing to the steel of the invention are the improvement in strength-toughness over tempered martensitic steels, and a simplified thermal treatment. Quenching is not necessary and by avoiding the quenching treatment the microstructure results far more homogeneous, which allows thick walled tubes to be produced. For the same steel composition, in comparison to conventional tempered martensitic structures, a better combination of strength and toughness can be achieved, in particular by tempering as rolled carbide-free bainitic structures.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2007Publication date: November 25, 2010Applicant: Tenaris Connections LimitedInventors: Gonzalo Roberto Gomez, Teresa Estela Pérez, Harsad Kumar Dharamshi Hansraj Bhadeshia
