Abstract: .alpha.,.omega.-polymethacrylate dicarboxylic acids of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an optionally halogenated alkyl group with 1 to 22 carbon atoms, wherein the R1 group can assume different meanings in the polymer molecule,R.sup.2 is the group of a known chain transfer agent, which has a terminal --COOH croup anda has a value not less than 4. The invention furthermore relates to the synthesis of these compounds and their use as sole or partial components for the synthesis or modification of polyepoxides, polyesters, polyamides, alkyd resins or polyurethanes.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preparation of toluene solutions of aluminum hydride, which is free of ethers and halides, characterized in that the complex, bound magnesium halide portion is precipitated and removed from halogen magnesium aluminum hydridohalides, which optionally are present in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solutions, of the general formula(Mg.sub.2 X.sub.3 (THF).sub.y).sup.+ (AlH.sub.3 X).sup.-whereinX is chlorine, bromine or iodineY is a number from 0 to 6,by the consecutive addition of hexane and toluene with successive removal by distillation of hexane and optionally of THF at boiling temperatures up to 90.degree. Abstract: A method is described for the preparation of rigid foams, having urethane and/or isocyanurate groups and being extensively open celled, by reacting polyisocyanates with compounds having at least two groups capable of reacting with isocyanates and the equivalent weight per reactive group of which is about 9 to 800, in the presence of catalysts, surface active substances, as well as, optionally, physical blowing agents, flame retardants and other known auxiliary materials and finishing agents, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of liquid, higher molecular weight, unsaturated hydrocarbons, which are free of groups capable of reacting with isocyanates, in amounts of 0.01 to 3.0% by weight, based on the reaction formulation. Particularly preferred hydrocarbons are polybutadiene and polyoctenylene with an average molecular weight of 800 to 10,000 g/mole. The rigid foams, because of their open cell nature, exhibit high dimensional stability.
