Abstract: A method for the synthesis of amphoteric surfactants by the reaction of amines with chloroacetic acid or its salts in aqueous solution at an elevated temperature, consists of reacting compounds of the general formula ##STR1## with chloroacetic acid at temperatures ranging from 115.degree. to 180.degree. C., until the chloroacetic acid content is less than 10 ppm.

Abstract: A mixed block copolymer of the A-B type is prepared. The A block of the block copolymer is formed by the polymerization of compounds having vinyl groups and the B block of which is a polyoxyalkylene block, obtainable by polymerizing, first of all, monomers having vinyl groups at temperatures of 60.degree. to 150.degree. Abstract: A method for the preparation of alloys of the SE.sub.2 Fe.sub.17-x TM.sub.xN.sub.y type where SE stands for a rare earth metal, including Y or a mixture of these metals, while TM stands for Co, Ni, Cu, Zr, Ga, Hf, Ta, Nb, Ti, Si, A1, V, Mo, Cr, Zn or Sn or a mixture of these metals, x=0 to 10, y=>0 to 5 is described. Abstract: High resilience polyurethane foams are produced by reacting a mixture of highly reactive polyols having a weight average molecular weight between about 4800 and 6500 g/mole and containing at least 70% primary hydroxyl groups and optionally fillers, polyfunctional isocyanates, amine activators, cross-linking agents, tin catalysts, blowing agents and stabilizers. The inventive stabilizers can be used universally in high resilience slabstock foam systems as well as in high resilience molded foam systems and in formulations based on pure TDI, TDI/MDI mixtures as well as on pure MDI in combination with appropriate polyols.

Abstract: A water vapor-permeable, waterproof linear polyurethane-urea polymer consisting of at least four soft segments: polytetramethylene oxide, polyethyleneoxide and polycaprolactone-polydimethylsiloxane-polycaprolactone. The soft segments are linked together with a diisocyanate and chain extended with a diamine. The polymer is utilized to coat various textile materials. Abstract: A method is described for the preparation of electrically conductive, infrared-reflecting layers on glass, glass-ceramic or enamel surfaces by spraying and thermally decomposing liquid Sn(IV) compounds and fluorine compounds as preparations containing doping agents on to the surface heated to 400.degree. to 800.degree. C., yet below their softening point, wherein, as liquid preparations, ionically stabilized, organic tin(IV) acid sols are used, which contain aliphatic alcohols or ketones with, in each case, at most 6 carbon atoms in the molecule or esters with a boiling point below 180.degree. C. as liquid, organic medium, as well as fluoride ions in an adequate amount for doping. The preparations are homogenous, stable for a long time, and can readily be diluted with alcohols, ketones, and other polar solvents.
Abstract: A method for the synthesis of silanes or organosilicon hydrides by the reduction of the corresponding silicon halides or organosilicon halides with a magnesium hydride in a liquid reaction medium is carried out by utilizing the following distinguishing features:a) the use of non-pyrophoric, preferably autocatalytically produced, storage magnesium hydride as magnesium hydride,b) the use of conventional ethers as reaction medium, andc) the continuous removal of the magnesium halide formed being deposited on the surface of the magnesium hydride particles during the reaction by the action of mechanical energy or ultrasound so as to form a fresh surface.

Abstract: Polymers, which have polyurethane and/or polyurea groups and contain finely divided fillers, are synthesized by reacting compounds, which contain at least two hydroxyl and/or amino groups, with at least difunctional isocyanates, optionally in the presence of catalysts, and mixing with suitable fillers. The compounds, containing hydroxyl and/or amino groups, and the isocyanates, are separately mixed intimately with finely divided solids so that flowable powders are obtained. The powders obtained are mixed in a stoichiometrically required amount, and the powder mixture is subjected to the action of shear forces at, if necessary, a higher temperature. The mixture of solids obtained has a shelf life of several days or weeks without reaction between the reactive compounds contained therein.
