  • Patent number: 7226559
Abstract: A method for molding composite structures whereby a material stack including a core having first and second opposing sides is prepared. The preparing of the material stack includes applying a fibrous support layer on at least one of the first side and the second side of the core section, applying an adhesive layer on the support layer, and applying a thermoplastic barrier layer on the adhesive layer. The method also includes preparing a resin and a mold; placing the material stack in the mold; sealing the core; infusing the mold and material stack with resin; curing the structure; and removing the structure from the mold. In one embodiment, the method creates a composite aircraft wing panel.

  • Patent number: 6930617
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for airspace navigation. Airspace navigation information for an aircraft is displayed in a first mode, such as, in a horizontal mode. One or more navigation events may then be detected, such as, proximity to a terrain feature, weather, traffic etc. The airspace navigation information for the aircraft is then displayed using dual modes, e.g., a horizontal mode and a vertical mode. Display parameters, such as colors, resolution, distance, scale, etc. may be set automatically or by a user. The display may also include information, such as avionics systems information, and communications information.

  • Patent number: 6607164
Abstract: An airfoil having particular use in a general aviation aircraft operating at generally low speeds. The airfoil has a shape designed to produce high lift coefficients at low speeds, with low drag and lower lift coefficients at higher speeds. The airfoil's lift characteristics are not sensitive to surface roughness on the leading edge caused by the accumulation of foreign matter on the airfoil due to the transition to turbulent flow occurring near the leading edge at high lift coefficients.
