Abstract: A label form having a release liner, a label ply having a pair of substantially parallel perforations spaced apart a selected distance, and a layer of adhesive between the release liner and the label ply. The adhesive is deadened in the area between the perforations, defining a spacing strip between two labels. Appliance information may be printed on such labels for application to an appliance. The label ply is removed from the release ply and then applied to a surface, with the spacing strip then removed so that the two labels on opposite sides of the strip are secured to the surface with a preselected distance therebetween. The labels may be made by perforating a label ply along a plurality of lines to define the spacing strip between adjacent perforated lines, applying adhesive to one side of one of the plies, deadening the adhesive applied to the spacing strip, and bringing the plies together with the adhesive therebetween.

Abstract: A business form adapted for both record keeping and the reporting of information includes a record ply (10) and a pressure sensitive adhesive label ply (12), (14), (16) overlying and secured to the record ply (10). The record ply (10) has a plurality of different record receiving locations (36), (38), (40), (42) at each of which variable information to be recorded may be inscribed. Fixed information 46 is inscribed on the record ply and identifies each of the recording receiving locations (36), (38), (40), (42). Die cuts (50) in the pressure sensitive adhesive label ply (12), (14), (16) are provided and are located to define a plurality of removable pressure sensitive adhesive labels (60), (62), (64), (66) that are aligned with corresponding ones of the record receiving locations (36), (38), (40), (42). Fixed information (76) is located on each of the labels and correlates with the fixed information (46) at the corresponding record receiving locations.

Abstract: A method for making a labeled business form comprising a paper web having thereon a full length adhesive band covered by a release liner where the width of the release liner is substantially equal to or greater than the width of the adhesive band and where the adhesive band has a width less than the width of the paper web. The method includes die cutting the paper web to form individual labels, neutralizing any adhesive extending beyond the release liner, and transversely cutting the paper-adhesive-liner combination to form individual business forms.

Abstract: A label image can remain impervious to a host of adverse environmental conditions including painting and acid washing with the disclosed invention. A protective clear mask pressure sensitive label having a protective mask sheet (42) releasably adhered with mask adhesive (44) to a sheet of transparent face stock (12) which in turn is releasably adhered with face stock adhesive (14) to a transparent release liner frame (20) section surrounding an image section (22) is disclosed. A die cut (18) is located in the release liner sheet (10) and defines a first removable frame section (20) and a second label defining section (22). The first section (20) surrounds the second section (22) so that when removed, a pattern of the adhesive (14) will be exposed. Reverse image printing (30) is disposed on the release liner second section (22).

Abstract: A sheet feeder (10) includes a frame (26) with an inclined surface (94) for supporting a stack of sheets to be fed and a feed roller (96) mounted on the frame (26). A retard roller (106) is mounted adjacent to the feed roller (96) and cooperates therewith to define a nip (108) for receiving a forward edge of the bottom sheet in the stack. Upright guides (116, 119) are mounted on the frame (26) and are engageable with a forward edge of a stack of sheets supported on the inclined surface (94). The guides (116, 119) are disposed at an acute angle with respect to the inclined surface (94) so that when the forward edge of the stack engages the guides (116, 119) the sheets automatically shift longitudinally relative to each other to facilitate feeding of a single sheet into the nip (108).

Abstract: An inexpensive, reliable sampling kit made up of a foldable sheet (12) defining a substrate, a die cut opening (30), (32) in the substrate, a transparent cover (34), (36) for the opening (30), (32) and adhered to the sheet on one side thereof, and an adhesive area (40) on the sheet (12) adjacent the opening (30), (32) and containing a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive (52). A removable release liner (60) covers the layer of adhesive (52) and a line of weakening (20), (22) is located in the sheet (12) and extends through the adhesive area (40) in the general direction of the opening (30), (32). The material to be sampled may be adhered to the adhesive area (40) after removal of the release liner (60) so as to extend over the opening (30), (32) and the sheet (12) folded upon itself on the line of weakening (20), (22) and held folded upon itself by the adhesive (52).

Abstract: A four panel mailer formed of a single sheet or ply of paper is including an elongated sheet (10) of material adapted to receive indicia and made up of four connected panels (18, 20, 22, 24) including two end panels (18, 24) at opposite ends of the sheet and two intermediate panels (20, 22) adjacent one another and located between and adjacent respective ones of the end panels (18, 24). One of the end panels (18) is somewhat longer in the direction of elongation of the sheet (10) than the other of the end panels (24) and has an address window (38). The other of the end panels (24) has two lines of apertures (66) extending in the direction of elongation of the sheet.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing internally apertured pressure-sensitive labels adhered to a non-apertured liner begins with a label web adhered to a first liner. The internal aperture shapes are cut through the web only and not through the liner, forming aperture slugs separate from the web. The first liner is then removed from the web, and the separate aperture slugs adhere to and are removed with the liner. Next, the web, with apertures cut out, is adhered to a second liner and the label peripheries, in registry with the apertures, are cut through the web only and not through the liner, forming labels separate from the web. Finally, the web is removed from the second liner, leaving individually internally apertured labels on the non-apertured second liner.

Abstract: Smearing of indicia (30,36) or deterioration of a label may be eliminated in a label form that provides protection for the imaging (30,36) in a construction that includes a sheet of transparent face stock (12), a layer of transparent pressure sensitive adhesive (14) on one side of the stock sheet (12) and a sheet of transparent release liner (10) releasably adhered to the one side of the face stock sheet (12) by the adhesive (14). A die cut (18) is located in the release liner sheet (10) and defines a first removable frame section (20) and a second label defining section (22). The first section (20) surrounds the second section (22) so that when removed, a pattern of the adhesive (14) will be exposed. Reverse image printing (30) is disposed on the release liner second section (22).

Abstract: A single sheet business form construction printable in an impact or a non-impact printer includes a base sheet of face stock having a front, a back, a top, a bottom, and first and second sides. The base sheet is adapted to receive a first line of weakening in a first desired location extending adjacent and parallel to the first side to define a first tear strip on the base sheet between the first desired location and the first side. The base sheet is adapted to receive a second line of weakening in a second desired location extending adjacent and parallel to the second side to define a second tear strip on the base sheet between the second desired location and the second side. A first transverse line of weakening is intermediate and parallel the top and the bottom and extends between the first and second desired locations. A lateral strip of adhesive is parallel to the first transverse line of weakening between the transverse line of weakening and the bottom.

Abstract: A composite resealable outsert and method for making the same, which produces a pressure sensitive applied resealable and clear laminate protected multi-fold outsert that provides product manufacturers with a convenient and economical device to satisfactorily meet increasing requirements for accommodating close retained association of previously printed product use and precautionary information outserts directly with the product by affixment and re-use protected attachment thereof either to the product container or the product itself rather than by the otherwise usual and typical method of simple loosely inserted outsert deposit within the product container.

Abstract: A method for making an improved resealable outsert label wherein following sequential text and illustrative imprinting upon panel components thereof the base layer panel upper surface of the label is next imprinted with a release-reseal coating strip to be thereafter followed by a curing thereof and then a skip-printing of the label cover panel hinge adhesive directly upon the base layer panel upper surface and abuttable to the previously laid down release-reseal coating strip, with a second strip of like adhesive, being a strip of label cover panel reseal tab adhesive, imprinted directly over the release-reseal coating strip, and then application of the label cover panel which is bondably adhered to the label base layer at the cover hinge end thereof by the label cover panel hinge adhesive and releasably adhered to the label base layer at the reseal tab end thereof by the reseal tab adhesive.

Abstract: A structure and method for making overlapping multipart business form unit sets is provided. A repositionably adhered sheet segment unit includes at least two sheet segments having a front side and a back side in corresponding edges. The sheet segments are in side-by-side relation, such that adjacent edges overlap defining an interface. A repositionable adhesive strip is located on at least one of the overlapping edges of the adjacent segments defining an interface. At least one of the front and back sides of at least one of the sheet segments has an image transfer medium coating. The method of making an overlapping multipart business form unit set includes providing a repositionable adhesive sheet segment unit and printing indicia on at least one of the sheet segments with a printer. The sheet segments are then separated by breaking the adhesion at the overlapping edges.

Abstract: A container for transporting wet batteries in aircraft, including a wax coated cardboard box portion having a selected width and a selected depth and secured on its bottom to a wax coated cardboard pedestal base which has a width at least 1.5 times the box portion selected width and a depth at least 1.5 times the box portion selected depth. The box portion also includes a lid structure in the top of the box portion and securable in a closed position defining a completely enclosed space for securing a battery for transport. Two absorbent blankets are provided within the box portion for wrapping around a battery, and a two sealable impermeable bag are also provided for enclosing a blanket wrapped battery within the enclosed space during transport of the battery. An absorbent foam liner is secured within the box portion surrounding the enclosed space.

Abstract: An improved resealable outsert label structure which embodies the interprinting of a release-reseal coating to provide a mechanical adhesion differential between that of the cover panel hinge and reseal tab so that the cover panel of the outsert label opens substantially easier from the reseal tab end in the event that a user would inadvertently attempt to open the outsert label from the hinge end and otherwise cause damage thereto.

A second sheet or ply (30) of face stock includes a fifth (28) and an opposed sixth surface. A marking system (64) is located between the fourth and fifth surfaces, (62) and (28) respectively, and creates a visible image on the fifth surface (28) when printed information is inscribed on the image-receiving portion (14) of the first surface (10).

Abstract: Unit mailing costs of promotional mailing may be reduced utilizing a dual mailer including first and second stuffed envelope assemblies (12), (14), in side-by-side relation joined by a line of weakening (18), wherein one of the envelope assemblies (12) contains a frank (30) while being free of address information and the other of the envelope assemblies (14) includes an address receiving area (32) while being free of a frank. A first message (Offer #1) is contained within the first envelope assembly (12), and a second message (Offer #2) different from the first message (Offer #1), is contained within the second envelope assembly (14).

Abstract: A continuous business form including an elongated ply of label stock having one side coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive and of a desired width. An elongated ply of release liner stock of the same width is engaged with the adhesive in such a way that the plies are laterally offset. Consequently, a narrow longitudinal strip of adhesive unengaged with the release liner exists on the label stock ply. An elongated ply of record or message bearing stock is adhered to such edge of the label stock at the narrow longitudinal strip of adhesive.
