  • Patent number: 4745835
Abstract: A perforating blade for creating extremely fine perforations in plural plies of a multiply ply paper construction including a perforating edge defined by a plurality of perforating elements separated by notches. Preferably there are about 50 or more of each of the elements and the notches per lineal inch with the notches having a length along the cutting edge of no more than about 0.010 inches. A relatively small number of the perforating elements, at generally uniformly spaced locations along the edge have lengths of about 0.03 inches or more with the remainder of the elements having lengths substantially less than 0.03 inches. The blade provides lines of perforation that when separated, have the appearance of the edge of a so-called cut sheet.

  • Patent number: 4627994
Abstract: A continuous business form including an elongated ply of label stock having one side coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive and of a desired width. An elongated ply of release liner stock of the same width is engaged with the adhesive in such a way that the plies are laterally offset. Consequently, a narrow longitudinal strip of adhesive unengaged with the release liner exists on the label stock ply. An elongated ply of record or message bearing stock is adhered to such edge of the label stock at the narrow longitudinal strip of adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4497509
Abstract: A continuous business form for use in automated mailing systems including a single elongated ply having control punch margins on its longitudinal edges. Longitudinal lines of weakening are disposed inwardly of the control punch margins to define removable feed strips and a main panel. The main panel is divided by a plurality of cross lines of weakening into a mailing facilitating panel and a message bearing panel such that the mailing facilitating panel has a length that is a minor fraction of the length of the message bearing panel. Mailing facilitating devices, such as an envelope, a label, or a stencil, are carried by the mailing facilitating panel.

  • Patent number: 4343492
Abstract: A business form including first and second superimposed plies of paper (10,12) and each having an information receiving portion (14,16). Contact adhesive (30) is disposed on one of the plies and a release liner (32) covers the same. The ply (12) having the contact adhesive (30) is completely slit (26) adjacent one edge and an easily releasable glue structure (38) secures the two plies together adjacent the slit (36). The release liner (32) is removed from the form to expose the contact adhesive simply by grasping the edges (18,20) of the plies (10,12) adjacent the slit (36) and separating the same.

  • Patent number: 4213639
Abstract: A continuous business form assembly including a plurality of elongated, superimposed plies of paper each having a face and a back, the face of each ply being uppermost. Transverse lines of weakening extend across the plies at regular intervals to enable the assembly to be separated into individual form lengths and the uppermost ply in the assembly is wider than the remainder of the plies and has a pin feed structure along at least one marginal edge displaced from the corresponding marginal edge of the remainder of the plies. Glued stubs in each form length of the assembly hold the plies in assembled relation and there is indicia on the faces of at least some of the plies for receiving variable information at a designated location. Image forming transfer material such as carbon is disposed at the interface of at least some of the plies for transferring variable information received on the face of the uppermost ply to at least some of the underlying plies.

  • Patent number: 4172605
Abstract: A ribbon, adapted for use on an impact printer, is provided wherein the ribbon is impregnated with a first substantially colorless substance which acts as a color-former when reacted with a second substantially colorless substance acting as a color-developer, present on a portion of a substrate. Upon the transfer of the color-former from the ribbon to the substrate by impact, a colored image will form on those areas of the substrate which are coated or impregnated with the color-developer. Images may thus be selectively transferred to an interior ply of a multi-ply business forms assembly by the conventional transfer methods without appearing on the exterior, impact receiving ply of such an assembly.
