Patent number: 6837695Abstract: A reciprocating refrigerant compressor includes a cylinder block having a cylinder bore, and a compression chamber defined within the cylinder bore. A cylinder head has a low-pressure chamber for receiving refrigerant gas to be drawn into the compression chamber, and is coupled to one end face of the cylinder block. A valve plate is arranged between the compression chamber and the low-pressure chamber, and includes an inlet port for guiding the refrigerant from the low-pressure chamber into the compression chamber. An inlet valve opens and closes the inlet port and has an end whose shape is adapted to a shape of the inlet port. The shape of the inlet port is non-circular, and a portion of an opening edge of the inlet port protrudes into the inlet port. Tangential lines drawn from the protruding portions intersect the opening edge of the inlet port at at least two points.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2001Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: Zexel Valeo Climate Control CorporationInventors: Katsutaka Une, Juetsu Kurosawa

Patent number: 6789607Abstract: An air distribution apparatus for a vehicle includes a partition disposed within a housing which separates a first longitudinal airstream from a blower and a cooling element into first and second airstreams, each separately directed through a heater element to form first and second recombined airstreams. The partition redirects the first and second recombined airstreams to a second direction angularly disposed from the first direction of air flow to enable the first and second output airstreams to be separately transmitted to first and second separate zones within the vehicle. Independently movable blend valves are interposed in the first and second airstreams to provide independent selection of temperature of the first and second output airstreams.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1999Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Assignee: Valeo Climate Control Corp.Inventors: Matthew L. Patent number: 6651450Abstract: If a motor breaks down, an appropriate measure is taken according to the type pf the breakdown. If the breakdown is judged to be due to abnormal energization of the motor by electrical abnormality judgment means, a drive source for a hybrid compressor is secured while preventing an engine for traveling from stopping by compressor operation continuation means. If it is judged that the driven state of the motor is abnormal, the hybrid compressor is disconnected from the engine to protect the engine from mechanical abnormality of the hybrid compressor.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignee: Zexel Valeo Climate Control CorporationInventors: Masahiko Tamegai, Kazuhiro Irie
