Abstract: A braking mechanism for a reel stand has been developed. The braking mechanism is affixed to a reel support member. The reel support member is configured to rotatably support at least a part of a reel. The braking mechanism includes a brake lever connected to the reel support member at a pivot point, and a braking member connected to the brake lever. The pivot point is offset from an axis of rotation of a reel supported by the reel support member. The braking member is configured to be positionable against the reel supported by the reel support member with an adjustable braking force.

Abstract: A casket assembly includes a bottom panel, side panels, flaps and end panels. The bottom panel is formed of a pliable material. The side panels are formed intrinsically with the bottom panel. Each side panel includes a lower section and an upper section foldably attached thereto. The lower section extends vertically upward from the bottom panel. In a first configuration, the upper section extends upward from the lower section. In a second configuration, the upper section extends in a direction other than vertically upward from the lower section. The end panels are formed intrinsically with the bottom panel. The flaps extend laterally from each end of the upper section. The flaps in the first configuration extend upward from a first vertical level defined by the top portion of the lower section, and in the second configuration extend downward from the first vertical level.

The plate member engages the core and extends radially from the core toward an outer edge and has an axially inclined media engaging surface. The set of support elements have a height extending from the plate member in the axial direction, and a length extending radially, at least a first support element extending radially from proximate the core to proximate the outer edge. The axial distance between the plate member and a top of the first support element proximate the outer edge is less than an axial distance between the plate member and the top of the first support element proximate the core.

Abstract: A casket lid assembly includes a plurality of layers of corrugated paper and a bridge assembly. The plurality of layers of corrugated paper are formed into a lid structure having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first end and a second end, The bridge assembly is attached to the second end of a casket lid. The bridge assembly includes two end pieces and at least one intermediate piece, and wherein the at least one intermediate piece is configured to be removably attached to the end pieces.

Abstract: A casket lid insert module is constructed as a complete insert separate from the casket lid and is later inserted into the casket lid as a single complete piece. The module includes a base panel, four roll panels, and a center panel. The roll panels are each attached to the back side of the base panel, curved to form a roll shape, and then also attached to the front side of the base panel. The center panel is then affixed directly to the base panel between the four roll panels. The center panel is preferably affixed to the base panel using hook and loop (aka Velcro) attachments.

Abstract: A casket system includes a casket container and a movable platform. The casket container has a bottom, and includes a plurality of rollers supported by said bottom. The movable platform is disposed within the casket container. The movable platform including slots extending through the platform and aligned horizontally with the plurality of rollers, the movable platform having a raised position and a lowered position, wherein at least a portion of a first number of the plurality of rollers extend through the slots and stand proud the movable platform in the lowered position, and a portion of fewer than the first number of the plurality of rulers stand proud the movable platform in the raised position.

Abstract: A casket includes a lid and a container. The container is configured to receive the lid in a first configuration for shipping, and in a second configuration for funereal purposes. In general, the lid in the first configuration is detached and inverted with respect to the second configuration, particularly when the lid is closed in the second configuration.

Abstract: A retractable handle arrangement for a casket includes an elongate handle member, a rigid rod, and a stopper member. The elongate handle member has a length extending parallel to a side panel of the casket, and has a through-hole extending transverse to the length. The rigid rod extends through the through-hole of the handle member. The rigid rod has a first end and a second end, the first end having a head. The head has a diameter exceeding a diameter of at least a part of the through-hole. The rigid rod extends through a side panel opening such that the second end is disposed within an interior of the casket. The stopper member is fixedly supported on the rigid rod within the interior of the casket. The stopper member has a diameter that exceeds a diameter of at least a portion of the side panel opening.

The method also includes inserting at least some blocks into the second tool element to form a selected one of the plurality of configurations, and performing injection molding using the first tool element and the second tool element.

The body may be arranged in at least two configurations, one of which is a low profile arrangement that allows for a reduced shipping volume. The insert is made from a leak resistant material, and fits inside the casket body. The profile of the shipping configuration is not altered when the insert is in place. The lid fits both configurations of the casket body. Handholds on the casket are spaced off-center to better distribute the weight of the contents.
