  • Patent number: 4034783
Abstract: A travelling-wave loom is provided with a pair of endless chains which respectively carry a plurality of weft inserters and a plurality of winding units for feeding weft threads from associated bobbins to the weft inserters. The chain carrying the winding unit is formed from a plurality of spaced rigid carrier members interconnected by standard links. Each carrier member has a groove for removably receiving the winding head, and when in position a spring-loaded pawl affixed to the carrier member releasably secures the winding head in the groove of such carrier member. Such chain also carries transversely spaced sets of rollers which are individually supported on opposite sides of an oval guide rail. One of the roller sets is spring-loaded to maintain the carrier member in firm contact with the guide surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4027705
Abstract: A strand advanceable from a supply spool to a weaving machine of the shuttleless type under variable tension is routed through an adjustable braking mechanism. The braking mechanism includes a flat guide plate along which the strand advances, the strand being contacted at longitudinally spaced portions of the guide plate by means of a succession of angularly depending leaf springs which are carried at longitudinal intervals in an overlying holding member. The input end of the holding member is pivotally supported on a frame member that carries the guide plate, and a helical spring biases the holding member obliquely relative to the underlying guide plate so that the distance between the holding member and the guide plate increases in the direction of advance of the strand.

  • Patent number: 3998040
Abstract: A plurality of separate fiber slivers are introduced into spaced portions of a fiber-separating zone disposed in a combing cylinder-type fiber separating apparatus. The separated fibers are separately discharged into a common duct via a fiber-stripping zone associated with each combing cylinder. The regions of introduction of the separate slivers to the combing cylinder are suitably spaced so that the resulting separated fibers discharged into the duct form a common flow in the portion of the duct between the fiber-stripping zone and the downstream end of the duct. A yarn-spinning apparatus is disposed at the downstream end of the duct for receiving the common flow of the fibers, and such apparatus is mounted for rotation about an axis which is skewed with respect to the axis of the combing cylinder.

  • Patent number: 3968817
Abstract: Method of and apparatus for continuous progressive beating up of weft in travelling-wave shedding looms with simultaneous picking of weft threads into the warp in which the weft in the shed is affected by a beating up force progressing in the weaving direction. The weft is first affected by a beating up force which is the resultant of a force acting in the direction of the weaving plane and another force acting in the direction towards the weaving plane, and then is affected by a beating up force acting in the direction of the weaving plane, while the beating up force continuously progresses in accordance with the travelling shed weaves along the whole warp width.

  • Patent number: 3967655
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for stabilizing the fabric within the weft beat-up area in multiple-shed weaving machines or wave weaving loom wherein the beat-up is effected by means of a rotary reed. Immediately after the weft has been beaten-up, the fabric passes through a stabilization slot, and after having passed therethrough, it changes the direction of its movement beyond the level of the weaving plane.

A lid is inserted into a front opening provided in said lower side, said lid being bored so as to form a fiber supply duct to convey separated fibers into the interior of said spinning rotor. A yarn take-off duct extends through said upper side of the spinning rotor and conveys the yarn via an outlet port out of the interior of the spinning rotor. A separator is secured to said lid and is designed to divide the rotor interior into a fiber supply zone and a yarn producing and take-off zone.

  • Patent number: 3948452
Abstract: An open-end spinning machine, is operated by continuously advancing a yarn towards a take-up station at which it is wound onto a bobbin rotating at a predetermined speed, so that a yarn package forms on the bobbin and the latter eventually becomes full. As the bobbin approaches a condition of fullness, an empty bobbin is rotated adjacent to it and is accelerated until it reaches the speed at which the full bobbin rotates. The yarn which advances onto the full bobbin is then severed from the yarn package on the latter, to provide a free yarn end which is inserted into one axial end of the rotating empty bobbin, to be engaged and entrained by the latter whereby winding of the free yarn end onto the empty bobbin commences. The full bobbin is now removed from the station and is replaced with the rotating empty bobbin.

  • Patent number: 3933183
Abstract: Method of and apparatus for eliminating a chain formation of wefts not transferred into the beat-up position of a travelling-wave shedding loom with weft inserters and a rotary reed comprising discs with cutouts for engaging weft and displacing it to the fabric fell. An interwoven but not transferred weft is introduced into the cutouts of the discs of the rotary reed; such cutouts corresponding to the next weft inserter, in lieu of the weft from said next weft inserter. The weft from the next weft inserter is introduced into the cutouts of the discs of the rotary reed, such cutouts corresponding to the next following weft inserter. Due to this phase-shift corresponding to the distance between two weft inserters following after each other, all the other wefts are successively directed into the cutouts of the discs of the rotary reed until the loom stops.
