  • Patent number: 5797710
Abstract: A tap having a reamer edge which is provided at a chamfer part, so that when the thread forming tap is pulled out after the internal thread is formed, a seam portion present at the crest of the internal thread is cut off, whereby even in a blind hole, formation of internal thread and cutting of the seam portion are performed in a single process, and formation of an internal thread and processing of an inside diameter portion are achieved in a single process to obtain concentricity in line with each other. Further, even if there is a deviation in diameter of the hole before threading, the inside of the internal thread is processed to a constant value.

  • Patent number: 5795089
Abstract: A device is provided for protecting a transparent display sheet bearing material thereon for projected display. Such protective devices typically employ blank, opaque backing sheets that are secured to a pair of transparent protective sheets forming a pocket for the display sheet, or directly to the display sheet itself. According to the invention, and unlike prior systems, the backing sheet is divided by a longitudinal fold into a pair of panels. One of these panels resides immediately adjacent the edge at which the backing sheet is connected to the transparent display sheet. The other panel is located remote from the connecting edge of the backing sheet, and may be folded back beneath the first panel so that the entire structure will fit atop the stage of a conventional machine for projecting images from transparent display sheets. This construction prevents the backing sheet from overhanging the edge of the stage and falling off during a presentation.

  • Patent number: 5791834
Abstract: A door drilling fixture for drilling a long straight longitudinal hole in a door. The fixture includes an elongated frame having a U-shaped cross-section for mounting about the hinged edge of a door and an arm projecting from and pivotally engaged to the frame for guiding a long drill bit. The door is placed between the right and left sections and the door edge flat against the center section of the U-shaped frame. Two hold-down bolts thread through upper and lower portions of the left section of the U-shaped frame to press the door against the right section of the U-shaped frame. Slots in the frame mechanically isolate the upper and lower portions of the left section from the middle portion of the center section. The arm houses two spaced apart drill bushings having a center line for rotationally engaging and guiding the drill bit through the drill bit aperture and into the edge of a door.

  • Patent number: 5788433
Abstract: A holder for a tool comprises a tapered hollow shaft, having an upper opening, for clamping into a tool receptacle, and a coolant tube arranged in the interior of the tapered hollow shaft for delivery of coolant to the tool. The coolant tube comprises an inlet opening for coolant, facing the upper opening, as well as an upper tube section having a cylindrical outer enveloping surface with which, when the holder is clamped into the tool receptacle, a sealing ring, which is arranged in a delivery tube for coolant which then at least partly overlaps the coolant tube, is in contact. A cover for the inlet opening is provided, which prevents chips from getting into the coolant tube. In addition, a further tube section, the outside diameter of which is smaller than that of the upper tube section, adjoins the upper tube section at the bottom.

  • Patent number: 5673459
Abstract: Deployment hinge apparatus comprises a stationary U-shaped bracket including a flange defining a retention recess. A hinge arm for supporting an operating structure such as a communication antenna reflector is pivotally mounted on the stationary bracket for movement between a stowed position and a deployed position. The hinge arm includes a deployment and latching cam which extends to a projecting nose member. A latch arm is pivotally mounted at one end to the stationary bracket and includes a cam follower at its other end operatively engageable with the cam. A spring biases the cam follower into engagement with the cam and is thereby effective to rotate the hinge arm from the stowed position to the deployed position such that, in the deployed position, the nose member and the cam follower are together snugly received in the retention recess, locking the hinge arm in the deployed position.

  • Patent number: 5566424
Abstract: A tilt adjustment mechanism having an upper housing, a lower housing and a shaft assembly is disclosed. The shaft assembly receives the gears which are pressed on either end of shaft. The shaft fits through locating slots in the lower housing. Each of the gears are activated by internal gears located on each side of the upper housing. The internal gears are integrally formed with the upper housing. The upper housing is hinged on the lower housing and can rotate 20 degrees. The shaft assembly mechanism provides a torsion bar function to insure that the upper housing moves evenly with respect to the lower housing. Even motion in the upwards and downwards directions of the housing is provided by even rotational torsional motion and opposite rotational torsional motion of the shaft assembly of the tilt adjustment mechanism. The shaft assembly mechanism decouples the frictional load in the two different rotational directions about its shaft.

  • Patent number: 5560083
Abstract: Handles to carry luggage handles have been made of a variety of materials and in a variety of styles. Some require specially molded, cast, or stamped parts of plastic, rubber or metal. But, such handles tend to be expensive and heavy. Here a handle is constructed from a pair of webbing pieces edge stitched to form an elongated tube into which a specially constructed filler member or core is inserted. This core comprises a central stiffening member of a tempered steel wire rod and a plastic tube. Several layers of foam padding are wound around this member, and the entire assembly is slid into the cavity formed by the edge sewn webbing pieces to form a grip. The lengths of the webbing pieces are such to form integral straps for attaching the grip directly to a luggage case.
